Today’s Match: What’s Happening? Florida (4-4-0, 0-0-0 SEC) at Louisiana State (2-4-1, 0-0-0 SEC) Southeastern Conference play opens around the league this week, with six teams meeting on Thursday, four Date & Time: Thursday, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. ET on Friday and the remaining four playing on Sunday. After her three goals in Florida’s two final non-conference matches, Vanessa Kara claimed the SEC Offensive DID YOU KNOW? Player of the Week honor. She is the second Gator to earn the honor, as was Week 1 recipient. Florida is 18-5-1 in Southeastern Conference openers. Four of Florida’s first five matches were versus top-25 teams – equaling Santa Clara 2011 at Georgia W, 1-0 7-4 T3rd for the nation’s highest number of preseason opponents in that span. Sophomore Georgia 2018 Vanderbilt L, 2-1 4-4-2 8th Eaton-Collins was part of England’s European Football Associations (UEFA) Under-19 Finals in Scotland, - the SEC began awarding a regular-season title in the 2000 season. LSU posted a 2-4-1 record in 2019 non-conference play. Thursday’s SEC opener is the Tigers’ third home match of 2019 (1-0 win McNeese State and Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Arizona State). LSU opened the season with a 1-0 loss at Villanova and then finished the opening weekend with a 1-0 2OT win at Navy. In other road action, LSU lost 1-0 to No. 1 North Carolina, 6-0 at No. 12 Duke and tied Samford 2-2 2OT. Senior Marlena Cutura leads the Tigers with four points off of one goal and two assists. Redshirt junior Emma Grace Goldman has played all but 45 minutes in goal for the Tigers in 2019 and owns a goals-against-average of 1.66. Debbie Hensley was named the Tigers’ interim head coach June 24, 2019. She has been a part of the LSU staff for the past 12 years, serving as associate head coach for the last nine.

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Gators needed extended minutes to claim its season opener Friday at Florida TAMPA, Fla. – Ranked opponent. Record crowd. Atlantic. Junior Deanne Rose hit the golden winner in the 96th minute to give the Gators a 3-2 overtime win over Florida Atlantic. The Gators soccer team calmly handled those extras tonight, registering a 2-0 win over No. 18 South Florida

Friday’s scoring: Sunday evening in front of a Bulls women’s soccer record crowd of 2,011. Florida Atlantic scored the only goal of the opening half in the 18th minute. The Owls used four passes to bring the ball from midway in their defensive half to find Pernille Velta. She received the ball at the top of the Gator Sunday’s scoring: defensive third and drove toward goal to score on a 15-yard right-footed shot. After a scoreless opening half, Deanne Rose received the ball at the top of the Bulls defensive third. Rose used her speed to create space as she moved left.
