I am sincerely grateful to the efforts of everyone who has helped contribute to the making of this Plan which is so important for the future of Powys. Importantly, the Plan sets out a clear and strong strategy for meeting the future needs of the county’s communities over the next decade. By focussing development on our market towns and largest villages, it provides the direction and certainty to support investment and enable economic opportunities to be seized, to grow and support viable service centres and for housing development to accommodate our growing and changing household needs. At the same time the Plan provides the protection for our outstanding and important natural, built and cultural environments that make Powys such an attractive and special place in which to live, work, visit and enjoy. INTRODUCTION 1.1 Powys County Council have conducted a review of the community boundaries and community electoral arrangements under Sections 55(2) and 57 (4) of the Local Government Act 1972 as amended by the Local Government (Wales) Act 1994 (the Act). In accordance with Section 55(2) of the Act Powys County Council submitted a report to the Commission detailing their proposals for changes to a number of community boundaries in their area (Appendix A). 1.2 We have considered Powys County Council’s report in accordance with Section 55(3) of the Act and submit the following report on the Council’s recommendations. 2. POWYS COUNTY COUNCIL’S PROPOSALS 2.1 Powys County Council’s proposals were submitted to the Commission on 7 November 2006 (Appendix A). The Commission have not received any representations about the proposals.

Summary 1.1 This is the Powys County Council Land Availability Study (JHLAS) for 2016 which presents the housing land supply for the area at the base date of 1st April 2016. It replaces the report for the previous base date of 2015. 1.2 The JHLAS has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of Planning Policy Wales (PPW) and Technical Advice Note 1 (TAN 1). It shows that based on the Table 4 calculation method set out in TAN 1 Powys County Council has 2.2 years housing land supply. In regard to the calculation method used, TAN 1 states in situations where the adopted LDP only covers part of the 5 year study period, the average annual requirement form the LDP should be extrapolated to give an estimate of the land required (See Table 4 in Annex 3 for the formula for the calculation).

We can now plan for the future with increased confidence for a future of stable education for all our students, from 11-18. Another busy term is almost over and Christmas is rapidly approaching. Once again this has been a very busy time and it never ceases to amaze me how many activities we are able to fit in. There is a very lively and positive atmosphere around school and students are achieving amazing things, many of which are included in this magazine. Good There have been lots of developments to improve the school environment over the summer, and of course our new uniform has been introduced with students looking incredibly smart. The new uniform has proved a greater success than Behaviour even I would have predicted. I have received many compliments from members of the local community regarding the smart appearance of our students both Award verbally and in writing. Students also seem to be enjoying the new uniform. My particular thanks to all parents for being patient in waiting for deliveries due to the A Good Behaviour Award is given large volume of new uniform purchase.

Record the details carefully for surnames & place names (BLOCK CAPITALS), county of origin, where the event took place, newspaper title, full date & page number, parish register, BT, gravestone (identify churchyard), etc. and email to the strays co-ordinator. Powys FHS Burials Index The Powys FHS National Burials Index 1813-1851 has now a total of 54,026 entries, of which 33,116 have been sent to the Federation for inclusion in the next NBI DVD. Breconshire & Radnorshire are complete for the period 1813-1851 and have been published on CD and are available from Heather Bufton, work is progressing on Montgomeryshire.     NOTICE OF ELECTION POWYS COUNTY COUNCIL - ELECTION OF COMMUNITY COUNCILLORS An election is to be held of Community Councillors for the whole of the County of Powys. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer, County Hall, Llandrindod Wells, LD1 5LG on any week day after the date of this notice, but not later than 4.00pm, 4 APRIL 2017. Forms of nomination may be obtained at the address given below from the undersigned, who will, at the request of any elector for the said Electoral Division, prepare a nomination paper for signature. If the election is contested, the poll will take place on THURSDAY, 4 MAY 2017. Electors should take note that applications to vote by POST or requests to change or cancel an existing application must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the address given below by 5.00pm on the 18 APRIL 2017. Applications to vote by PROXY must be made by 5.00pm on the 25 APRIL 2017.
