PARKER: THE UNTOLD STORY T.V. SERIES BIBLE By Robert Garlen Based On the character "Spider-Man" created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Appearing in MARVEL COMICS. I do not own nor claim to own any of the appearing characters of this piece this is simply fan fiction and is to be taken as such. OVERVIEW "PARKER" is an American T.V. Series adapted from story and spirit from the famous Marvel Comic Book Character "Spider-Man” a comic book about teenager Peter Parker balancing life as a Super-Hero and as a high school prodigy. The story of which is a teenage story of love, heart break, and karma, none of which will be tossed in the show’s overall process. Being an adaptation the T.V. Series will have it’s differences many pointed to draw in new Audiences and satisfy the loyal Marvel Comics Fans. Our Peter Parker will still be a teenager, and will still work at the Daily Bugle and is still a tight wearing avenger of the poor and justice. The show will focus on the more Human characteristics of our main avenger. Parker’s story begins in the pilot and continues beyond the series finale, during the show at NO POINT will it be an idea to kill Peter off in any type during the show. The show’s mission is to entertain and explore new areas of the Spider-Man mythology, being fans of the Sam Raimi Films and having love for the Ultimate Spider-Man Comic Book series the show will stop at nothing to bring the real drama of a high school teenager, and mix it with the fast action paced life of a Super Hero. The beauty of doing a Series is taking more time to tell a story, more freedom in development. Character and story wise the development is a main focus, taking creative liberties story and character are the main focuses. We do not want to disrespect any coming source materiel. We’ll take any and every opportunity to exaggerate the comic book side without making corny dumbfounded references. What is trying to be achieved is a serious Teen-Drama involving our Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. As a teen drama we’ll explore his teenage human side which is a key appealing factor in series. Unlike the normal teen-dramas that are seen on ABC FAMILY and the CW this series is stern in its attitude, and is despite the Super Hero nature, real. The characters are real people who live in an Extraordinary World. There will be no excuse for any lack of character, because the main players in this series will reflect real people in society and it will show with great pride. When it’s all said and done the mission at the end of the day will as mentioned earlier is entertainment and (CONTINUED) CONTINUED: 2. staying true to our characters. The people LOVE Spider-Man an instead of trying to write a film where we’ve only have a Couple Hours to tell an amazing story, we could get three, four hours, full seasons, so that every piece of story is very strong and full of the character’s experience, after all “With Great Power comes Great Responsibility” 3. STRUCTURE The structure of the series is a natural 6-act structure. TEASER/PROLOGUE: the teaser will serve as a foreshadowing to the first act setting the mood and the feeling of the episode. ACT-ONE: will serve as introduction to the Problem and will grip the audience’s interest. ACT-TWO: This is the point in the episode where the main characters initial attempt to solve the problem shown in ACT-ONE earlier but will folly due to the character’s narrow view of solving the problem. ACT-THREE: This is the act where the main character talk to someone inspirational(i.e. Pete talks to Aunt May) which causes them to think out the problem and create a plan. ACT-FOUR: The final act in which our hero will solve the problem and reap some of the benefits of good karma for doing his heroic duty. ACT-FIVE/EPILOGUE: This is the end of every episode where the karmic pay-offs and punishments are reflected on the characters. This is usually the point in the episode where the main character reflects on the episode and what they’ve learned from it. 4. RULES AND RESTRICTIONS: 1. Tights and Webs: Spider-Man would not be Spider-Man without those colorful tights or his trademark webshooters. He could have organic webbing, but nothing excites the audience more than drama of a main character with a good chance of death. Naturally his tights are a must themselves. Immediately he won’t be Spider-Man but still he will have to don them within the first 10 episodes. We want to please fans, not be a 10 season cock tease. 2. Symbolism: The series itself has a message. Messages and subtext is something the viewer loves. It gives the show and episodes meaning. But we do not want to preach. No subtexts about abortion or religion, That’s not our thing. Our Subtext will be more towards the idea of “With Great Power comes Great Responsibility” plus this is a series with a Super Hero in high school, subtext fits in just as well as penut butter and jelly. 3. Character Representation: OK everyone. We want this to be about Peter so naturally our plots are revolving around him. But we can’t put characters in situations where they don’t act themselves at least not with good reason. 4. Adult Theme: This is a show for Teens and Fans. Those who would view this series should be treated with respect and be seen as adult. We’re not going to joke about sex in an obvious manner. The Subtext will be an adult themed. Death is a factor. Death loves Spider-Man’s Supporting cast, let death meet a couple tragedy is Spider-Man’s worthless friend. 5. Cliffhangers: Naturally we need a hook to keep fans interested in the episode. But we won’t keep the same old “Can Spider-Man Survive this dangerous peril” We’re in three acts here, Commercials will come and go, but we need to make sure the viewer keep coming and not going. 5. SETTING: QUEENS, NEW YORK- The hometown of the Parker family this is an Urban setting in which many of the sets take place. This is Where Spider-Man’s initial Patrols will begin. PARKER RESIDENCE- Like all Super Hero’s Peter has a loving home where the man he will become will start. The Parker residence is a place of loving respect kept by a religious family with the best intentions and the greatest of loving care. The house is a two story three bedroom, one bath, house equipped with a basement where Peter keeps his lab and develops his photos. With all areas this place should feel the most Homey, not well decorated it is a very fine house to which any child like Peter would be more than proud to live in. STACY RESIDENCE- Home of Commissioner George Stacy, who is a Spider-Man supporter, lives with his only daughter, Gwen Stacy, Peter’s first love and best friend. This house will be rarely seen, more-so than the Osborn Penthouse, but will still be seen as a place of harmony for all who enter. WATSON RESIDENCE- Home of Mary Jane Watson, this is another site for Peter to come to. This place serves as the chaos of the series symbolizing Mary Jane’s Home life with Peter’s life as Spider-Man. NEW YORK, NY- Main setting for the corporate face of the series peter often will travel here to visit harry and to work and do new college courses guided by his high school. OSBORN RESIDENCE- Norman Osborn’s penthouse, which really never sees him, set in Queens as a P.R. move Widowed Norman Osborn lives with his only son Harry Osborn. This house is served to show the dysfunctional family side of humanity, situations exaggerated by the life styles of characters who live here, albeit this place serves as a second home for Peter while feeling exiled by family and other friends. DAILY BUGLE- Famed Publication owned by J. Jonah Jameson, who serves as Editor-In-Chief. Peter and Brock are the two most distinguished employees, working together like brothers as a Journalist/Photographer relationship. This will often be featured as a heavy work environment. Also will be used for scenes in which Parker would be alerted of villain activity. OSCORP- Norman Osborn’s place of business, serves as an area of Harry’s Seclusion. Norman gets drawn into work, Harry breaks away from everyone. This will be the site where many of the villains are born. As well as having Uncle Ben as an employee of Oscorp. 6. SERIES CHARACTERS: MAIN CHARACTER: Our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, the central character of the series and a basic overview of his character. PETER PARKER/SPIDER-MAN: The Main and Title Character; the series revolves around him and his social problems as Spider-Man and as Parker. As the series begins he’s fifteen years of age freshmen in high school. Through the series he’ll get a job at the Daily Bugle that was given to him by an older child hood friend Eddie Brock. Immediately within the first season he’ll don the iconic outfit. His face as Spider-Man represents the teenage fantasy with Spider-Man being chased by women, as well as authorities symbolizing Peter’s inner rebellious nature usually trumped by his love and respect for his Aunt and Uncle.
