  • GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS PRAYER GUIDE Pray for Our Government Officials by Name
GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS PRAYER GUIDE pray for our government officials by name I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intersession and thanksgiving be made for everyone—for kings, and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus…I want men every- where to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing. (1 Timothy 2:1-5; 8) 1. Pray they would know Jesus and walk with Him. Lord, we lift up to you each one of our elected officials and appointed officials. We ask for the Holy Spirit to move upon the hearts of every person serving in our government who doesn’t have a personal relationship with you, that they would come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. And we also lift up to you all those who know you Lord, and we pray they would walk with you daily as they govern our nation. “And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, accord- ing to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy” (Colossians 1:9-11).

White House Interview Program DATE: December 29, 1999 INTERVIEWEE: GERALD RAFSHOON INTERVIEWER: Martha Kumar [Disc 1 of 1] MK: When you’d like to go off-the-record or on-background, that’s fine as well. Ultimately the material goes into a presidential library; it will go into the [Jimmy] Carter Library. We’re working with the National Archives on it. The full interviews don’t come out publicly until 2001, when a new President comes in, and also you’ve had a chance to go over the transcript. GR: Okay. MK: It’s going to be used in various ways. It’s a group of presidency scholars and we’re doing profiles of seven offices. We’ve selected seven offices. And we’ll go back over time to the [Richard] Nixon administration, and profile what the functions have been, the responsibilities, different ways in which they’ve been organized. I’m writing the one by myself on communications. I’m doing press and communications by myself. The pieces themselves are going to be short, although they’ll be on a pass-coded website for people coming in so they can then⎯in addition to reading the fifteen pages about some of the general things about the office⎯they’ll be able to select items within it as well. We’ll have links in to longer pieces. And then we’re doing what we call “Standards of a Successful Start” in the spring, which are isolating maybe eight elements that are common to successful transitions. GR: Interesting. Did you read Bob Woodward's latest book, Shadow: Five Presidents and the Legacy of Watergate? MK: Yes.

Lincoln Project Faces Exodus of Advisers Amid Sexual Harassment Coverup Scandal by Morgan Artvukhina Donald Trump was a political outsider in the 2016 US presidential election, and many Republicans refused to accept him as one of their own, dubbing themselves "never-Trump" Republicans. When he sought re-election in 2020, the group rallied in support of his Democratic challenger, now the US president, Joe Biden. An increasing number of senior figures in the never-Trump political action committee The Lincoln Project (TLP) have announced they are leaving, with three people saying Friday they were calling it quits in the wake of a sexual assault scandal involving co-founder John Weaver. "I've always been transparent about all my affiliations, as I am now: I told TLP leadership yesterday that I'm stepping down as an unpaid adviser as they sort this out and decide their future direction and organization," Tom Nichols, a “never-Trump” Republican who supported the group’s effort to rally conservative support for US President Joe Biden in the 2020 election, tweeted on Friday afternoon. Nichols was joined by another adviser, Kurt Bardella and by Navvera Hag, who hosted the PAC’s online show “The Lincoln Report.” Late on Friday, Lincoln Project co-founder Steve Schmidt reportedly announced his resignation following accusations from PAC employees that he handled the harassment scandal poorly, according to the Daily Beast.

  • The Politics of Fashion: American Leaders and Image Perception
THE POLITICS OF FASHION: AMERICAN LEADERS AND IMAGE PERCEPTION A Thesis submitted to the Faculty of the Graduate School of Arts and Science of Georgetown University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in Communication, Culture & Technology By Joanna S. Rosholm, B.A. Washington, D.C. April 30, 2009 THE POLITICS OF FASHION: AMERICAN LEADERS AND IMAGE PERCEPTION Joanna S. Rosholm, B.A. Thesis Advisor: Diana M. Owen, Ph. D. Abstract Physical appearance is an important non-verbal communicator for public officials, as they are often in the public eye. As a result, oneʼs fashion and style can affect oneʼs political viability. All politicians are expected to dress in a certain way, a style that former Democratic National Committee Communications Director, Karen Finney, believes “conveys a degree of thoughtfulness and seriousness,” (Personal Interview, 2009). These expectations are merely guidelines to attire that demonstrates the correct balance between masculinity and femininity, between paying attention to detail while appearing effortless, and maintaining oneʼs personal character. Case studies, personal experience, and personal interviews with Karen Finney, Anita Dunn, Peter Kovar, Tim Gunn, and Rochelle Behrens illustrate the importance of what public officials wear. Secretary Hillary Clinton, Governor Sarah Palin, Congressman Barney Frank and Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez are used as examples to demonstrate key points. Among the key findings, it is found that female candidates on the campaign trail continue to struggle with social permission to don casual attire. As well, while it is important to maintain a “gender appropriate” image, Hillary Clinton ii | P a g e demonstrates how women often perform their political roles through their clothing.

Flashback to 2007: the iPhone is a technological miracle, the Black Eyed Peas are topping the charts, and a freshman Senator from Illinois is about to embark on a journey that will define the next century. My name is Carter and I’m thrilled to be your Chair as you all drive a campaign to take America by storm. A bit about myself: I’m a third year in the College at the University of Chicago, studying Political Science (and probably another major or a few minors, as long as I can keep a high GPA for law school)! I originally hail from Louisville, Kentucky (pronounced Loo-a-vul)--home of horse racing, fried chicken, and Muhammad Ali. Outside of coursework, I’m the Vice President of our competitive Model UN Team, and am a Crisis Director for a committee (The Virgin Group, 2020) at ChoMUN, our collegiate Model UN conference. This is my second year at MUNUC--last year I staffed the Cabinet of Uzbekistan, 1991. I also work at UChicago’s Community Programs Accelerator as a consultant for nonprofits on Chicago’s South Side, and spend my limited free time exploring this beautiful city and finding good food.

  • Is Bayh the Anti-Hillary? Senator Now Considered a Serious Contender
V12 N43 Thursday, July 13 2006 Is Bayh the Anti-Hillary? Senator now considered a serious contender By MARK CURRY WASHINGTON - For the fifth time in modern history a Hoosier is contemplating a run at the White House, but this campaign just might be different: Evan Bayh could win his party’s nomination. True, Indiana’s former governor is considered a long shot, but so were Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton at this time in 1974 and 1990. And, unlike the Hoosiers who went before, Bayh is deep into the game 2 1/2 years out. While his campaign does face daunting obstacles, the junior senator is well-positioned to mount a viable challenge to any seeking the Democratic nomination for president in 2008. “He’s a credible U.S. senator, leader in his party, got a message, spending time on far different than Sen.
