TEXAS TECH TEAM NOTES • Texas Tech reached the 50-point mark for the ninth-consecutive game inside Jones AT&T Stadium. That continues what is already the longest streak in school history. • Texas Tech’s 621 yards of total offense marked its 57th-straight game with at least 325 yards of total offense, the longest active streak in the FBS. • Texas Tech has now scored in 236 games dating back to the 1997 season, a streak that ranks 12th nationally and second in the Big 12 Conference. • Texas Tech has now scored at least 25 points in each of its last 20 games dating back to the 2014 season, continuing what is already the longest streak in the country. Tech has reached that mark in the first half of all four of its games this season. • Texas Tech has now scored at least 50 points in 12 of the 42 games in head coach Kliff Kingsbury’s tenure. • Texas Tech is averaging 35.5 points in the first half alone this season. The Red Raiders, who went into the half with 28 points tonight, previously scored 45 first-half points versus Stephen F. Austin, 34 against Arizona State and 35 against Louisiana Tech. • The Red Raiders needed just 1:42 to reach the endzone to start the game as Jonathan Giles hauled in a 14-yard scoring reception from Patrick Mahomes II. It marked the quickest touchdown for Texas Tech to start a game this season. It was also the third time where the Red Raiders scored on their opening drive. • The Red Raiders held Kansas to just 296 yards of total offense, the fewest for a Big 12 opponent since the Red Raiders held Iowa State to 189 yards in 2012. • The Red Raiders totaled seven quarterback hurries in tonight’s game. It marked the first time Tech had at least six quarterback hurries in a game since the Iowa State in 2013. • Cameron Batson’s muffed punt early in the third quarter marked the first lost fumble by the Red Raiders this season. • The Red Raider defense totaled four sacks in the victory. It marked the second time this season where Texas Tech had at least four sacks as the Red Raiders recorded five in their season-opening win over Stephen F. Austin. • Texas Tech had two quarterbacks (Patrick Mahomes II • 277 yards and Nic Shimonek • 271 yards) pass for over 200 yards in the win, marking the first time two different signal caller had reached the mark in the same game since and did so in their 2009 contest against New Mexico. • Texas Tech had eight passing touchdowns in the win, tying the single-game school record that had previously been notched five times. The Red Raiders previously had eight passing touchdowns against Texas A&M (2003), Baylor (2003), Northwestern State (2007), Rice (2009), Kansas State (2009). • Texas Tech recorded its fourth and fifth turnovers of the season during the fourth quarter. Jah’Shawn Johnson recorded an interception with 6:34 remaining in the game, and Joseph Wallace recovered a bad snap at the 3:05 mark.

GILES GOES OVER 200 YARDS TO BOOST RED RAIDER OFFENSE • Jonathan Giles had another record night to boost the Tech offense as he caught 12 passes for 219 yards, marking the first time a Red Raider went for over 200 yards since Darrin Moore against Texas State in 2011. He is the first Red Raider to record 200 receiving yards in a Big 12 contest since Michael Crabtree had 237 yards and Danny Amendola totaled 233 yards in 2007 against Oklahoma State. • Giles hauled in two touchdown passes in the win, giving him a team-leading seven on the season. His first came on a 14-yard pass from Mahomes on Texas Tech’s opening drive. He added a 59-yard strike from Shimonek over the middle late in the fourth quarter. • Giles has now recorded at least 150 yards of receiving in each of his last two games as he went for 186 yards against Louisiana Tech. TEXAS TECH FOOTBALL TEXAS TECH vs. KANSAS POSTGAME NOTES MAHOMES PUTS UP ANOTHER SOLID NIGHT BEFORE LEAVING EARLY • Patrick Mahomes II had another solid night leading the Red Raider octane as the junior finished 27-of-34 for 277 yards and four touchdowns before leaving the game midway through the third quarter. He snapped a six-game streak of recording at least 300 passing yards. • Through four games, Mahomes is now responsible for 22 touchdowns this season which is tied for the second-most among FBS players since 2000. Seth Russell of Baylor also was responsible for 22 touchdowns in 2015 and current Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson has 25 touchdowns heading into this weekend. • Mahomes came close to the 300-yard mark before halftime as he was 24-of-31 for 272 yards and four touchdowns. In four games this season, Mahomes is 82-of-111 for 1,371 yards and 18 total touchdowns (15 passing, 3 rushing). • Mahomes’ final touchdown pass of the night to Derrick Willies marked the 70th of his career, pushing him past (2009-12) for sole possession of third place in the Texas Tech record book. He also passed Taylor Potts (2007-10) for fifth place in career passing yards during the game as well.

NOTING THE RED RAIDERS • Cameron Batson recorded his fourth touchdown reception of the season and the fifth of his career less than four minutes after Giles’ touchdown grab during the first quarter. Batson ended the night with eight catches for 88 yards and one touchdown. • Dylan Cantrell collected his fifth touchdown of the season on a 4-yard strike from Nic Shimonek with 4:56 remaining in the third quarter. Cantrell is one of three Red Raiders to catch at least one touchdown in all four games this season, joining both Giles and Cantrell. • Batson, Cantrell and Giles are three of nine players in the FBS to catch a touchdown pass through their team’s first four games of the 2016 season. The trio is joined by Chad Henson (California), James Gardner (Miami, Ohio), Josh Malone (Tennessee), Tim Patrick (Utah), Devin Ross (Colorado) and Corey Willis (Central Michigan). • Nic Shimonek entered for Patrick Mahomes II and finished off Texas Tech’s fifth scoring drive of the night. Shimonek was 4-of-5 for 39 yards on the drive. He led the Red Raiders to touchdowns in three of his five drives to conclude the game. He finished 15-of-21 for 271 yards and four touchdowns. • Kris Williams logged a career-high 2.5 sacks tonight, the most for a Red Raider since Gary Moore had two last season against Iowa State. • Desmon Smith tallied a career-best six tackles. He entered tonight’s game with two total tackles. • Jah’Shawn Johnson recorded his fourth career interception and first of the season with 6:34 remaining in the fourth quarter. • Joseph Wallace recovered his first career fumble with 3:05 remaining in the game. It marked Texas Tech’s fifth turnover of the season.
