Day 1 Thursday 15th July Lismore-Dorrigo LD It’s not often in we can experience a cold Christmas. This July we’ll head to beautiful Dorrigo for a Christmas in front of an open fire. Today, after we pick up our fellow travellers, we’ll make our way to Grafton for morning tea then on to Dorrigo for a delicious lunch at Dorrigo’s historic Heritage Hotel. Spend some time browsing the shops in town before booking into our accommodation, positioned on the edge of the escarpment of the Dorrigo Plateau, with picturesque mountain, valley and ocean views. ACC: Lookout Mountain Retreat, Dorrigo (02 6657 2511) Day 2 Friday 16th July Dorrigo Sightseeing BLD We spend today exploring Dorrigo and the surrounding area. We’ll call into Dutton Trout Hatchery to learn how and why they raise and release these fish and watch the waters erupt as you scatter pellets across the surface. Dutton Trout Hatchery in Ebor has been raising and releasing an average of about two million fish per year into inland streams and waterways. Watch the plunging 100m over two waterfalls at . Three lookout platforms along the edge of the gorge – upper falls, lower falls and valley view — give spectacular views out into the rugged gorge country. Learn about the National Park's flora and fauna in the intriguing education area at the Rainforest Centre. Take a stroll on the Skywalk walkway and lookout platform over the escarpment edge for a close up view of the rainforest canopy. The boardwalk takes you over the top of the rainforest canopy, providing magnificent views over the rainforest, down to the Bellinger Valley and sometimes as far as the Pacific Ocean. Tonight enjoy a lovely Christmas Dinner with Champagne on arrival, excellent hosts, Santa and his Elves, a beautiful Christmas Tree and decorations. A wonderful way to celebrate Christmas in July with friends. (Please wear your Christmas finery and bring a unisex gift to the value of $10). Day 3 Saturday 17th July Dorrigo-Lismore BL Today, after a hearty breakfast, we load our bags and travel the short distance to Bellingen for their local markets. After ample time to browse the stalls, we’ll then visit the Old Butter Factory. Here you’ll find a woodcraft gallery, a maker of leather goods, a store full of interesting furnishings, home and gift wares, and a café. Then we’ll travel down the picturesque . Keep a look out for roadside waterfalls hidden amongst the rainforest. At Urunga, you can take a walk along the Urunga Boardwalk with spectacular views along the entire 850m length of the Kalang and Bellinger Rivers and the Pacific Ocean. We’ll have a delicious lunch at Ocean View Hotel before making our way back to the Northern Rivers after a wonderful few days away.
