In walking to this historical landmark in Boston, individuals will be to take advantage of sightseeing other colleges that are associate with the Colleges of the Fenway, and also walk by some restaurants for possible future dining, and other entertainment options such as shopping and movie theaters. Individuals that live in the area, or visiting, will benefit from these accurate directions and find them beneficial while engaging in exercise, saving money by not taking The T, or by not using gas in their own vehicle. They may also find it quicker to walk to and from this destination, because it is not uncommon for traffic to be horrendous, especially during a ball game. Materials/Equipment List In walking from Wentworth Institute of Technology main entrance to Fenway Park we recommend that individual wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing that is appropriate during for the season. There are so many beautiful structures and historical buildings, that we also recommend traveling with a camera to take memorable photos. It is to the individual’s discretion whether they which to travel with money, but we suggest a few dollars for snacks or souvenirs. Specifications Comfortable walking footwear, although the distance is less than a mile, there is a lot of grassy area and walking on the concrete sidewalks can be uncomfortable for individual and serves best to avoid injuries. U.S. currency is highly recommended but there are automatic teller machines in route, for example at the movie theater or gas station. Safety Precautions We recommend that pedestrians follow all street rules, and cross at crosswalks and use traffic light buttons and wait for the signal, showing when it is safe to walk. Make sure to have footwear secure on feet to avoid tripping. There is commonly a lot of construction in progress in the area, please be cautious around heavy duty construction vehicles and beware of careless drivers. There are a lot of bars in the area, so we also suggest that pedestrian are cautious around those that may be intoxicated. W.I.T. You will leave the gas station to your left as you proceed down Louis Prang St. Alberto Dejesus’ head is visible above the Wentworth wall. Figure 3 At this intersection Louis Prang St. turns into Fenway. You will pass the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum on your left as you walk down Fenway away from WIT. Figure 4 You will proceed along Fenway, passing through this intersection where Judith Bernier is standing. Figure 5 Here you are at the intersection of Fenway and Brookline Ave. and looking to your right down Brookline Ave. At this point you have traveled approximately 0.5 miles since starting at WIT. The Best Buy store is pictured with its colorful banners. Figure 6 You will proceed along Brookline Ave. passing the Best Buy store on your left. Continue down Brookline Ave. approximately 0.3 miles. At this point you are approximately halfway down Brookline Ave. Parisa Kondri is standing at the intersection. Figure 8 After traveling approximately 0.4 miles from the intersection of Fenway and Brookline Ave. you will arrive at Gate A of Fenway Park which will be on your right at the intersection of Brookline Ave and Yawkey Way. Though generations have come and gone, Fenway Park remains, much like it did the day it opened on April 20, 1912. ÿ Colleges of Fenway: Formed in the spring of 1996, the Colleges of the Fenway is a collaborative effort of six (Emmanuel College, Massachusetts College of Art, Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Simmons, Wentworth Institute of Technology, Wheelock College, Medical Academic Scientific Community Organization, Inc.) neighboring Boston-based colleges in the Fenway area. This collaboration was created to add value to student academic and social life while seeking innovative methods of investing in new services and containing the costs of higher education. ÿ The “T”: The T or MBTA stands for Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. The MBTA service district includes 175 cities and towns. In 1997 the MBTA celebrated the 100th anniversary of the nation's first subway, the Green Line. Service under Boston Common between Park street and Boylston was inaugurated in 1897. ÿ Isabella Stewart Gardner Museums: 1840–1924, American art collector, b. New York City. She lived in Boston following her marriage to the financier Jack Gardner. After the Civil War her home became known for brilliant social affairs and as a center for gatherings of painters, literary people, musicians, and other celebrities. Her lifelong interest in art led her to sponsor various contemporary artists and the young connoisseur Bernard Berenson, who advised her in the collecting of many works. Her husband cooperated with her in her plan to create an art museum.
