Maandag 19 juni 2017 bereikte ons het zeer trieste Daarvoor was hij al vele jaren betrokken bij het Terborg bericht dat Mart Geerling plotseling was overleden. Toernooi als kern-medewerker accommodatie en als Iedereen was beduusd, terneergeslagen en in teambegeleider. Hij vormde inmiddels samen met Jan gedachten van ongeloof. Dit kon niet waar zijn, dit Veenink ons zeer ervaren accommodatie-team. Mart kon gewoonweg niet. Maar toch . ja het was echt de was van alle markten thuis en verraste ons altijd met harde waarheid. zijn praktische oplossingen en zijn gevoel voor humor. Op dinsdag 20 juni 2017 zouden we met z’n allen de Mart was altijd enthousiast en dacht vaak alweer aan evaluatievergadering houden. Met daarna een borrel, verbeteringen voor het volgende jaar. We zullen jouw een hapje en een potje lekker ouwehoeren. Hoe wrang ideeën meenemen voor de toekomst. Vooral jouw wens was het om op deze dag met een hele andere reden om het toernooi een familie-gebeuren te laten zijn. met de huidige organisatie en oud-organisatieleden Het zo plotseling verliezen van Mart doet ons pijn en bij elkaar te zitten op de geplande evaluatie-avond. maakt ons verdrietig. Toen al werd de inbreng van Mart en zijn humor en gezelligheid gemist. Je was loyaal, hulpvaardig, optimistisch en vooral humoristisch. I like it to play football by myself, to watch it on television, but also to read articles about football. The opportunity to combine my love for football with a scientific research for my Bachelor Thesis, could not be better for me. During an orientating conversation about the topic for my Bachelor Thesis with my thesis mentor Jos Bijman, I mentioned that I was always interested in the management strategies of organizations. What kind of choices an organization makes, what kind of resources an organization uses, what an organization wants to achieve and its performances. Following closely this process in large organizations is something I like to do in my leisure time. My thesis mentor Jos Bijman asked for my hobbies and he mentioned that there was a possibility to combine my interests in the management strategies of organizations with my main hobby football. In this way the topic Management strategies of football clubs in the Dutch Eredivisie was created. The Bachelor Thesis Management strategies of football clubs in the Dutch Eredivisie is executed in a qualitative research, using a literature study. This Thesis is written in the context of my graduation of the study Business-and Consumer Studies (specialization Business) at the Wageningen University and Research.     From being a small boy, I have always been a huge fan of both football and professional wrestling and at around the age of 10-years-old, I came across a monthly magazine brought to newsagents from the makers of the world famous Sports Illustrated all about pro wrestling. It was simply named Pro Wrestling Illustrated. It was a publication I regularly read as well as Shoot and Match weekly magazines to feed my football addiction. In 1991, PWI began this new craze that instantly grabbed my attention more than no other magazine had before. They revealed the 'PWI 500'. The 'PWI 500' section in the magazine listed (in rank order) the top 500 professional wrestlers in the world that year. Counting down from 500, this revealed to me many, many talents that I have not discovered as of yet. This was released every year, and still to this day is the best selling edition of the magazine each year. I studied and read and read over and over again that edition in 1991 and I came up with an idea. What if Match or Shoot revealed the top 500 footballers in the world? Thinking back to 1991, I used to love to tune into the 'BBC Radio 1 Top 40' show every Sunday afternoon too... maybe I'm a tad obsessed with countdowns. Anyways, reflecting on the idea, I thought about it each year the 'PWI 500' was released. As years went on, I felt that this would have grown into a hugely successful plan, gaining great recognition with people in the game, possibly gained its own award ceremony on TV with the emergence and exposure SKY Television in the United Kingdom was just beginning to give to the game back then.

    ORTEC Sports Business Case – Scouting: Luuk de Jong (Sevilla) Introduction After the 2018-2019 season Luuk de Jong (age 28) wanted to make an international transfer after being successful at PSV for five years. The objective was to find a top six club in one of the big five leagues (Premier League, Ligue 1, La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga). Being the top goal scorer of the Dutch Eredivisie in 2018/2019 with 28 goals and having impressed in the Champions League and as a Dutch International (18 caps), several clubs showed interest. It was crucial that his next club would match his characteristic playing style as much as possible. As a young unexperienced talent, he moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach (BMG) (2012- 2014) and Newcastle United (2014 on loan). Due to injuries and a change in BMG’s play style it did not work out as expected for the tall and strong striker. It resulted in playing 48 games in 2 years and scoring 6 goals during this period, a career low. Challenge Learning from their earlier experiences at BMG and Newcastle, Luuk de Jong and his management team realized that one of the most important aspects of the upcoming transfer is the compatibility of Luuk’s qualities with the tactics of his new team. This would enhance the chances of continuing his successful streak at PSV and keeping de Jong in the squad of the Dutch national team for EURO 2020. Before making their decision on a transfer they requested ORTEC for a statistical analysis of the club and Luuk.
