TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT NOTICE Special Traffic and Transport Arrangements on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon on 1 July 2017 For TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT NOTICE Special Traffic and Transport Arrangements on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon on 1 July 2017 for Fireworks Display for the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Notice is hereby given that special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented on 1 July 2017 (Saturday) to facilitate the fireworks display for the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. I. Special Traffic Arrangements Hong Kong Island A. Road Closures and Traffic Arrangements The following roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic and the following special traffic arrangements will be implemented until the crowd is dispersed and the road closure is lifted: (a) From about 1.00 pm onwards: Central District Tramway Lane outside Garden Road Lower Peak Tram Station will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic (except for franchised buses) until the crowd is dispersed and the road closure is lifted. (b) From about 7.00 pm onwards: Wan Chai District (i) Fenwick Pier Street eastbound; (ii) Lung King Street; (iii) The section of Fenwick Street northbound between Gloucester Road and Harbour Road; (iv) Harbour Road; (v) Expo Drive; (vi) Expo Drive Central; (vii) Expo Drive East; (viii) Road P2; (ix) Convention Avenue; (x) Fleming Road flyover; (xi) The section of Fleming Road between Gloucester Road and Convention Avenue; (xii) The section of Tonnochy Road between Harbour Road and Hung Hing Road; (xiii) The section of Marsh Road between Gloucester Road and Hung Hing Road (if necessary); (xiv) Marsh Road flyover (if necessary); (xv) Hung Hing Road (if necessary); (xvi) Hung Hing Road flyover (if necessary); (xvii) Wan Shing Street (if necessary); 1 (xviii) Wan Ying Street (if necessary); (xix) The access road leading from Victoria Park Road eastbound to Causeway Bay Promenade; (xx) Lung Wui Road; (xxi) The section of Tonnochy Road flyover between Gloucester Road and Harbour Road; (xxii) The section of Tonnochy Road northbound between Gloucester Road and Harbour Road; (xxiii) Fenwick Pier Street westbound; (xxiv) Fenwick Pier Street flyover; (xxv) The section of Fenwick Street southbound between Gloucester Road and Harbour Road; (xxvi) Harbour Drive; and (xxvii) The section of Tonnochy Road southbound between Harbour Road and Gloucester Road (if necessary) The Peak District (i) The section of Stubbs Road westbound (uphill bound) between Stubbs Road roundabout and Peak Road (for all goods vehicles with gross vehicle weight over 5.5 tonnes only); (ii) The section of Peak Road northbound beyond the car park entrance of Peak Galleria (except for local residents’ vehicles); (iii) Lugard Road (except for local residents’ vehicles or with permits); (iv) Harlech Road (except for local residents’ vehicles or with permits); (v) Mount Austin Road (except for local residents’ vehicles or with permits); (vi) Barker Road (except for local residents’ vehicles); (vii) All laybys along Stubbs Road between Peak Road and Stubbs Road roundabout; and (viii) All laybys along Magazine Gap Road between Peak Road and May Road. Central District (i) Yiu Sing Street; (ii) Central Star Ferry Concourse; (iii) The loading and unloading area outside Central Ferry Piers 7, 8 and 9; (iv) The section of Chung Kong Road between Shun Tak Centre and Rumsey Street; (v) Man Kwong Street; (vi) Man Chiu Street; (vii) Man Fai Street; and (viii) The section of Man Yiu Street between Man Kwong Street and Man Po Street. (c) From about 7.55 pm onwards: Eastern District (i) The section of Island Eastern Corridor westbound between Victoria Park Road and Man Hong Street will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic (except franchised buses); (ii) Vehicles on Island Eastern Corridor westbound will be diverted onto Man Hong Street; and 2 (iii) The slip roads leading from Healthy Street Central and Tong Shui Road to Island Eastern Corridor westbound will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic (except for franchised buses). (d) From about 8.08 pm onwards: Wan Chai District (i) Stewart Road; (ii) The section of Fleming Road between Hennessy Road and Gloucester Road; (iii) O’Brien Road; (iv) The section of Jaffe Road between Percival Street and Luard Road; (v) The section of Lockhart Road between Percival Street and Luard Road; (vi) The section of Tonnochy Road between Gloucester Road and Hennessy Road; (vii) The section of Marsh Road between Gloucester Road and Hennessy Road; (viii) The section of Canal Road West between Gloucester Road and Hennessy Road; (ix) The section of Canal Road East between Gloucester Road and Hennessy Road; (x) The section of Luard Road southbound between Gloucester Road and Jaffe Road; (xi) The section of Percival Street between Lockhart Road and Gloucester Road (if necessary); and (xii) The section of Gloucester Road service road westbound between Percival Street and Canal Road East (if necessary). B. Suspension of Parking Spaces (a) All metered parking spaces and motorcycle parking spaces (including disabled parking spaces) on Tramway Lane outside Garden Road Lower Peak Tram Station will be suspended from about 1.00 pm to 10.00 pm. (b) All metered parking spaces and motorcycle parking spaces at Victoria Peak Garden, Mount Austin Road will be suspended from about 6.00 pm to 10.00 pm. (c) All on-street parking spaces, metered parking spaces and motorcycle parking spaces (including disabled parking spaces) at the following locations will be suspended from about 4.00 pm to 10.00 pm: (i) Lung King Street; (ii) Hung Hing Road; (iii) Expo Drive East; (iv) Lung Wui Road; (v) Gloucester Road service road; (vi) The section of Stewart Road between Jaffe Road and Gloucester Road service road; (vii) The section of Marsh Road between Hennessy Road and Lockhart Road; (viii) The section of Jaffe Road between Percival Street and Luard Road; and (ix) The section of Lockhart Road between Percival Street and Luard Road; C. Restrictions on Access to/exit from Carparks Vehicles parked in car parks within the closed areas in Wan Chai and Central will not be permitted to enter or leave the car parks during the road closure period until the road closure is 3 lifted. The carparks on Gloucester Road westbound between Paterson Street and Percival Street may be closed at short notice by the Police subject to the crowd and traffic condition. Kowloon (1) Tsim Sha Tsui and Hung Hom A. Road Closures and Traffic Arrangements From 6.00 pm (a) Road Closures The following roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic: (i) Hung Hom Bypass between Salisbury Road and Hung Hom Road; (ii) Princess Margaret Road Link between Metropolis Drive and Hung Hom Bypass. (iii) Salisbury Road westbound between Cheong Wan Road and Kowloon Park Drive; (iv) Salisbury Road eastbound between Kowloon Park Drive and Science Museum Road; (v) the elevated section of Salisbury Road westbound (near Hong Kong Coliseum); (vi) U-turn slip road outside New World Millennium Hong Kong Hotel from Salisbury Road eastbound to Salisbury Road westbound; (vii) Salisbury Road between Canton Road and Kowloon Park Drive (except for franchised buses and green minibuses); (viii) Kowloon Park Drive (except for franchised buses and green minibuses); (ix) Canton Road between Kowloon Park Drive and Salisbury Road; (x) Mody Lane; (xi) Hong Wan Path; (xii) Granville Road between Chatham Road South and Science Museum Road (except for franchised buses and green minibuses); (xiii) Granville Square; (xiv) Haiphong Road; (xv) Ichang Street; (xvi) Peking Road; (xvii) Middle Road; (xviii) Ashley Road; (xix) Hankow Road; (xx) Lock Road; (xxi) Nathan Road northbound between Bowring Street and Salisbury Road; (xxii) Nathan Road southbound between Granville Road and Salisbury Road; (xxiii) Cameron Road; (xxiv) Carnarvon Road between Bristol Avenue and Granville Road; (xxv) Hau Fook Street; (xxvi) Cameron Lane; (xxvii) Humphreys Avenue; (xxviii) Prat Avenue; (xxix) Hart Avenue; (xxx) Mody Road between Chatham Road South and Nathan Road; (xxxi) Mody Road westbound between Chatham Road South and Science Museum 4 Road; (xxxii) Hanoi Road; (xxxiii) Bristol Avenue; (xxxiv) Minden Row; (xxxv) Minden Avenue; (xxxvi) Blenheim Avenue; (xxxvii) Chatham Road South northbound between Salisbury Road and Granville Road; (xxxviii) Chatham Road South southbound between Salisbury Road and Mody Road; (xxxix) Science Museum Path; and (xl) The unnamed access road from Austin Road West to West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade. (b) Traffic Diversions (i) Vehicles from Hung Hom Road southbound will be directed to Hung Hom Bypass and the roundabout at Cheong Tung Road South; (ii) Vehicles on Princess Margaret Road Link southbound will be diverted to turn right onto Metropolis Drive westbound; (iii) Vehicles on Metropolis Drive eastbound will be prohibited from turning right onto Princess Margaret Road Link southbound; (iv) Vehicles on Kowloon Park Drive northbound will be prohibited from turning left onto Canton Road southbound; (v) Granville Road between Nathan Road and Carnarvon Road will be re-routed as one-way eastbound; (vi) Granville Road between Chatham Road South and Science Museum Road will be re-routed to one-way eastbound and restricted for entry of franchised buses and green minibuses only; (vii) Vehicles on Science Museum Road will be prohibited from turning onto Mody Road westbound and Granville Road; (viii) Vehicles on Canton Road southbound will be diverted to make an U-turn onto Canton Road northbound outside China Hong Kong City; (ix) Vehicles on

About 190 itineraries, designed by various local tour operators, are available in the new round, which will be uploaded to the HKTB’s programme website in two batches. Starting from tomorrow, members of the public can choose from the first batch of about 130 itineraries and register directly with the tour operators. The first batch of itineraries uploaded cover a wide range of themes and experiences, including the Scenic Harbour, Lively Culture, Gastro-Fantasies, Endless Entertainment, Neighbourhoods and Family Fun. On top of local attractions, the itineraries include workshops related to gourmet food and handicrafts, fishing and farming activities, as well as pet-friendly experience. Half-day tours include at least two points of interests and one meal, many of which offer a hotel buffet, seafood tasting on an outlying island, or other delicacies (see appendix). Members of the public can register for a local tour with machine-printed receipt(s) after spending HK$800 or more at local retail and dining outlets. Registered participants are required to submit the receipt(s) to the tour operator and pay a deposit of HK$100 per person (to be returned on the day of the tour). To meet the government’s latest anti-pandemic requirements, all participating tour operators are required to sign the Anti-epidemic Undertakings for Local Tours.

Winter Season (December - March) is the most relaxing and comfortable time to go to Hong Kong but besides the weather, there's little else to do since the "Sale Season" occurs during Summer. There are some sales during Christmas & Chinese New Year but 90% of the clothes are for winter. Hong Kong can get very foggy during winter, as such, visit to the Peak is a hit-or-miss affair. A foggy bird's eye view of HK isn't really nice. Summer Season (May - October) is similar to Manila's weather, very hot but moving around in Hong Kong can get extra uncomfortable because of the high humidity which gives the "sticky" feeling. Hong Kong's rainy season also falls on their summer, July & August has the highest rainfall count and the typhoons also arrive in these months. The Sale / Shopping Festival is from the start of July to the start of September. If the sky is clear, the view from the Peak is great. Avoid going to Hong Kong when there are large-scale exhibitions or ongoing tournaments like the Hong Kong Sevens Rugby Tournament because hotel prices will be significantly higher. Problem 2. There is a need to enhance the appeal of the Peak as a premier attraction of Hong Kong. Proposal 3. The Director of Architectural Services (D Arch S), with the support of the Secretary for Economic Development and Labour, proposes to upgrade 391RO to Category A at an estimated cost of $142.6 million in money-of-the-day (MOD) prices to implement the improvement works in the Peak. Background 4. To enhance and sustain Hong Kong’s attractiveness as a premier tourist destination, the Tourism Commission (TC) has since 2000 embarked on a Tourism District Enhancement Programme (The Programme)1. The Peak, being a “must-see” attraction to our visitors, has also been identified for improvement under the Programme. 1 Projects implemented under this Programme include the improvement works in Sai Kung and Lei Yue Mun waterfront which were completed in 2003; the Central and Western District Enhancement Scheme which is targeted for completion in 2005; the Stanley Waterfront Improvement Project and the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade Beautification Scheme, both of which have commenced in August 2004. - 2 - 5. Introduction 1.1 Background The Former Mountain Lodge (FML) at Victoria Peak was built between 1900 and 1902 as the summer residence of the Governors of Hong Kong. Following an extended period of vacancy and neglect during the war years and due to the state of disrepair, the main buildings and servant’s quarters were completely pulled down in 1946 while the Gate Lodge was retained. In the 1970s the site was redeveloped and opened to the public as the Victoria Peak Garden with the Gate Lodge subsequently declared a monument in 1995. Following an initial archaeological survey in 2007 and in response to rising concerns on heritage conservation and growing interest in cultural tourism, this study was commissioned by the Antiquities and Monuments Office (AMO) of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department to examine the historical value of the site of the FML and its surrounding areas, formulate an interpretation strategy and propose interpretation plans. 1.2 Report Structure The study basically comprises two reports, namely the ‘Statement of Significance’ (Part 1) and ‘Study Report’ (Part 2) concluding with an executive summary of the findings. Part 1 - The ‘Statement of Significance’ assesses the existing site condition both in terms of the cultural significance of the tangible physical remains and intangible socio-cultural values identified within the study area.
