CONDITIONS 1. General The tournament will be played in accordance with the Laws of Badminton, the General Competition Regulations, the Regulations for Grand Prix of the BWF and the Experimental Laws adopted on June 9, 2008. In the event of any dispute, the Referee's decision shall be final.

2. Entries and visa application • Entry forms must reach the Secretariat Dutch Open, c/o Mrs. Marion Taconis, Coragestraat 33, 8081 XG Elburg, The Netherlands, by Tuesday 16 th September (secretary committee: phone +31-525-681311, fax +31-525-683184, e-mail [email protected] ). • Competitors and officials, who need visa for the Netherlands, should send an application for v isa not later than September 8 th , 2008, to the Tournament Committee. We will not accept entries needing v isa without such an application. The application should include full names, date of birth and passport number of all players and officials. 3. Championships ev ents and qualifying rounds a. The committee will restrict entries into all championships events, and, if necessary, into any qualifying event also, according to BWF rules. b. The sizes of the main draws are: MS 64, WS 32, MD 32, WD 32, XD 32. The numbers of qualifying players/pairs are: MS 4, WS 4, MD 4, WD 4, XD 4. The maximum sizes of the qualification draws are: MS 16, WS 16, MD 16, WD 16, XD 16. c. In case of vacancies in any main event these will be filled from the list of entries of the qualifying rounds, ordered according to BWF rules; only entries, which have not yet lost a match, can be selected. In case of vacancies in any qualifying round, these will be filled from the list of non-accepted entries in the event concerned. d. All entries will be acknowledged. Any competitor, who has not received an acknowledgement by Friday 19 th September , should inform the Committee of Management, because no responsibility can be accepted for loss or delay in transit. e. The draw will take place on Tuesday 30 th September. 4. Match conditions a. Competitors must be prepared to play at the times quoted in the Order of Play (see backside) for the events for which they have entered. NO EXCEPTION SHALL BE MADE TO THIS RULE. b. The period for knocking-up before any match shall not exceed 2 minutes. c. YONEX AS 50 shuttlecocks will be used. d. Random testing for the use of drugs will be conducted. 5. Clothing and adv ertising All clothing worn by players during play shall be acceptable badminton sports clothing. Each article of clothing may be of any colour or combinations of colours. Doubles partners should wear the same colour from the quarterfinals onward. The shirt may carry advertising as defined below: a. Up to 3 adverts each of 20 cm 2 or less, on the following locations: left sleeve, right sleeve, left collar, right collar, front of shirt. Other than front of shirt, only one advert per location; b. Advertising contained in a band of uniform width not exceeding 10 cm; such a band may be at any angle and may be on the front of the shirt, the back of the shirt, or both; c. If, in the Referee's sole judgement, there is a clash between the content of the advertising in 5.b and the event sponsors or TV broadcasters, or if the content of the advertising would infringe local laws or be considered offensive, then the Referee may limit advertising on the shirt to 5.a. Other clothing : d. Each sock and each shoe may carry two adverts provided each is 20 cm 2 or less. e. Each other article of clothing may carry one advert of 20 cm 2 or less. The adverts in 5.a to 5.e may be the clothing manufacturer's emblem or that of any sponsor. Lettering and designs on player's clothing : f. The back of the shirt has to carry the name of the player (family name and possibly initials) and may carry the name of the player’s country and an advert, complying with BWF General Competition Regulations 21-23; the shirt may carry on the front the flag or national emblem of the country represented; g. Abstract designs containing no advertising, commercial or promotional content are permitted; h. A design or lettering is allowed when it forms part of an advert permitted by Condition 5a to 5e, and falls wholly within the permitted dimensions. ORDER OF PLAY

ENTRY FEES Singles € 20 per competitor Doubles € 25 per pair No entry fee is payable by players nominated as entrants by their National Orga- nization. Entry fees have to be paid before a competitor plays his first match in the tournament. TRTRTRANSPORTATIONTR ANSPORTATION Please note that all competitors and officials arriving by plane are advised to book flights to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, which is close to the tournament venue and the official hotel (Apollo Hotel Almere). In view of heavy traffic around the airport, the fastest mode of transport to Almere is to take a train to Almere Central Station, from where transport to the Apollo hotel will be offered. Hotel information and a booking form (reservations should be made before 15 September) are available at www.dutchopen.nl . TEAM MANAGERS MEETINGS Two team managers meetings have been planned. Before the Qualifying Rounds a meeting will take place on Monday October 13, at 7 pm in a signposted room at the tournament venue. Before the Main Event a meeting will be held on Tuesday October 14, at 7 pm, also at the tournament venue. From Monday to Thursday, practice courts will be available in a hall adjacent to the competition hall. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, practice courts will be available in a hall somewhere else in Almere. Transport to and from this hall to the Apollo Hotel and the tournament venue will be provided free of charge.
