Guidelines: The rules and guiding principles for the 2021 Spring Camporee shall be. the Scout Oath and the . Safety Guidelines shall meet or exceed those outlined in the current BSA Guide to Safe Scouting. Please observe and practice the principles of The Outdoor Code and Leave No Trace Health and Safety Local/State COVID-19 Requirements & Restrictions at time of (Sanitizer, Masks & Social Distancing beyond Unit Campsites)

Check-In: Upon arrival, one leader from each unit MUST check-in at Headquarters in Soaring Eagle Ruth Coffen Shelter. Units arriving late, including Saturday morning must check in immediately upon arrival. A final roster with an accurate count will ensure that your troop receives a complete awards packet. If you check in without payment verification you will not receive patches or awards

Weather and hydration Be aware; In the mountains, and a Colorado Spring outing could involve anything from snow & cold temperatures (hypothermia), Rain, or sunshine & warm temperatures (sunburn). Please ensure everyone carries a bottle of water, and drinks regularly.

Environment There is the possibility of wild animals wandering around the area, in the spring. Precautions include: “Buddy system at all times, observe, But DO NOT approach the animals. Introduction Welcome to the 2021 Bighorn District Spring Camporee

This year’s theme is Scout Skills, as we will have camping, and field activities.

All Scouts BSA are welcome to join in the fun, and Webelos/Arrow of Light Scouts and their parents are invited to join us for the day, on Saturday, May 1st.

We will participate in a weekend of activities featuring teamwork, Scout skills, community service and fellowship. Need 2 older youth and on adult for six of these activities. Let us know what your troop would like to do. Possible activities:

• Kim's game

• tent set up.

• fire building

• knot tying

• lashings

• map and compass

• corn hole

• paper planes

• first aid

If registration is turned in after close of business on Wednesday, April 21st, 2021, the Troop will be subject to late fees.

The costs per person for the event are:

Each attendee must complete the following forms: *** BSA Medical Form (Parts A and B) *** Please bring completed forms to the Camp and turn in at check-in. (will be returned)

Complete the Troop/Unit rosters included in this packet and turn in at check-in. (Make additional copies if needed for the Unit.) Parking will be in the main parking lot by the museum. Each Troop may have one trailer left at the campsite. Troops will receive more information upon check-in.

Campsite cooking & Firepits: All fires to be in Elevated Fireboxes, No Ground Fires. Units should bring their own. Campsite Toilets: Latrines are near the campsites. Please remind scouts to be courteous, keep latrines clean, and observe posted signs (Women Only, Staff only, etc.). Troops should provide hand washing facilities at campsites. You should “Be Prepared” in case toilet paper is out and then “Do a good turn” and notify HQ.

Highlights Skill Station and Teamwork Activities Requesting Troops host a skill station (2 youth &1 adult). Units to provide materials, supplies and instructions to run their station. (teams may rotate to visit other stations) Patrols rotate through stations, to be challenged on teamwork, communication, and Scout skills. “Safe Distancing” / Small Groups (Patrols) Scout friendly competition scoring by each station Host. (Recommended scoring: 10 points + up to 5-point bonus for exceptional performance). Score cards to be turned in @ 4:00pm, to Staff Coordinator. Winner(s) awarded at Campfire.

3 morning sessions will be 50 minutes long with a 10-minute transition period. 3 afternoon sessions will be 50 minutes long with a 10-minute transition period.

Campfire Need a Volunteer for MC and help coordinate the campfire program. Troops have the option of a song, skit, or both, at the Saturday night campfire. (Sign up by dinner, Saturday evening) There will be Recognition for “best on stage”. Units may donate “non-synthetic” (Cotton) flags for a Flag Retirement ceremony. One of the highlights of the Spring campfire is the OA OKHIZU Chapter, Callout of elected candidates for 2020-21. We ask all Unit to have candidates present for recognition.

Scout’s Own An Interfaith service Sunday morning led by Volunteer Chaplin Aide(s).

BASIC COVID-19 PROTOCOL AT 2021 SPRING CAMPOREE To be able to be safe and minimize exposure to infection from Covid-19 while at the Wapiti District Spring Camporee, the following precautions are advised: Restart Scouting Checklist (S.T.A.R.T.) is in the registration documents. Please read and comply with the advice, while attending Spring Camporee. It is important that State, County, and Local guidelines be followed, which includes: a. A Face Mask /Bandana (2), should be available and worn when outside of “Unit Camp.” b. Maintain “safe Distance” while in Campsite, and around others outside Unit. c. Units should have the capability for screening and temperatures, as needed. (Camp Staff WILL be contacted if any camper suspects/ reports changes in health status) d. Each Unit should have available (personal / Unit) “Exam Gloves” for individuals. e. Advise each camper to have personal sanitizer supply, and the Unit should have additional containers for group use. (Rest Rooms will be stocked with hand sanitizer). f. Unit Campsites will “Safe Distance” into Patrol units (6-10 youth + “Leader”), in tents of two (2) campers, sleeping “head to toe”, opposite sides of tent. (Safe Scouting rules). If family concerns, single sleepers within tent group, by Unit. g. ALL meals will be prepared at “Home” campsites within the Patrol groups.
