Flex View - Frequently Asked Questions

General

What is Flex View? Answer: Flex View is a new feature of our Video on Demand Service that lets you purchase or rent videos. You purchase videos much like you would from a video store, whereas renting a video is like ordering a Video on Demand title. With Flex View you have the freedom to watch the videos you’ve rented or purchased any time on any compatible device, including: Personal Computers Netbooks Compatible Portable Devices that support Microsoft ® PlayForSure ® content access technology and compatible wireless handhelds

You are not required to make any additional payments to download or watch the video.

What is the difference between this and regular Video on Demand? Answer: Flex View gives you the ability to purchase and rent videos on multiple devices while our current Video on Demand service only gives you the ability to rent and view on your TV

What is the difference between purchase and rent? Answer: Purchase: You pay once and then can access the title an unlimited number of times over an indefinite period of time, free from any problems common with hard DVD (i.e. scratches, dirt and smudges) that effect quality.

Rental: You rent videos and can then access the title and start playback within the 30 days. Once you download the title to your computer/portable device, or press play on the “On Demand” section on your TV, you have 24-48 hours (depending upon the title) to finish watching it. The ability to download the rented video is disabled either after 30 days or 24-48 hours after the first playback, whichever occurs first. Videos already downloaded cease to play after the rental period has expired.

How do I know which Flex View videos are available for purchase or rent? Answer: Flex View Titles are either categorized in folders named Flex View and/or have a Flex View logo on them. When you select a Flex View title to purchase you are presented with the option to rent or buy the video. These options are well placed and easy to find.

How many devices can I authorize to view for Flex View? Answer: You can add up to five of any of the following types of devices:

FiOS TV (all set top boxes in your home count as 1 device) Wireless Cell phones (Supported models) PC/Laptop/Netbooks Windows® PlayReady® compatible portable Media Players

After reaching the limit of five devices you are then required to de-authorize an existing device before you can add a new one. In order to authorize and de-authorize portable Flex View devices, you should typically connect the device to a PC that is itself an authorized device. You are only permitted to de-authorize two (2) Flex View authorized Devices per Flex View Account per calendar year without connecting through your PC and you are only permitted to de- authorize and re-authorize the same Flex View authorized Device two (2) times within a calendar year.

Can I watch a Flex View title on my PC or that I purchased or rented from my TV? Answer: Any Flex View title you purchase or rent instantly shows upon the rest of your authorized devices, providing those devices are connected to the Internet. You may be required to refresh the library to view the updated list.

No matter what screen you buy a Flex View title from your library is automatically updated across screens. To view your Flex View title on your PC or mobile device you are required to download the video to your device.

Will a title I added to my Bookmark from my TV appear on my PC or mobile device and vice versa? Answer: Any title you add to the watch list on your TV appears on any authorized PC or mobile device (provided they are connected to the Internet) and vice versa. You might be required to reload the view to get the list updated. Changes are updated in real-time.

Will Flex View videos be available in SD or HD on my TV? Answer: You can choose from SD or HD versions depending on whether or not you have an SD or HD set-top-box. If you have an HD box, both versions will be available for rent/buy. Some videos may be available in SD only. If available, HD versions are indicated with an HD marker and associated price next to the buy/rent option and come with a slightly higher price.
