    Turnbull Hockey Pool For

    Turnbull Hockey Pool for Each year, Turnbull students participate in several fundraising initiatives, which we promote as a way to develop a sense of community, leadership and social responsibility within the students. Last year's grade 7 and 8 students put forth a great deal of effort campaigning friends and family members to join Turnbull's annual NHL hockey pool, raising a total of $1750 for a charity of their choice (the United Way). This year's group has decided to run the hockey pool for the benefit of Help Lesotho, an international development organization working in the AIDS-ravaged country of Lesotho in southern Africa. From www.helplesotho.org "Help Lesotho’s programs foster hope and motivation in those who are most in need: orphans, vulnerable children, at-risk youth and grandmothers. Our work targets root causes and community priorities, including literacy, youth leadership training, school twinning, child sponsorship and gender programming. Help Lesotho is an effective, sustainable organization that is working at the grass-roots level to support the next generation of leaders in Lesotho."     ”Hakamettän henki” Tampereen jäähallin käytäviltä uuden Areenan valoihin Kuva 1 Hakametsän halli 1965 Johtamiskorkeakoulu Ympäristöpolitiikan ja aluetieteen opintosuunta Pro-gradu Majanlahti Topi-Jussi Ohjaajat: Jouni Häkli, Pekka Jokinen, Pauliina Raento Toukokuu 2018 Tampereen yliopisto Johtamiskorkeakoulu MAJANLAHTI, TOPI-JUSSI: ”Hakamettän henki”, Tampereen jäähallin käytäviltä uuden Areenan valoihin Pro gradu -tutkielma, ympäristöpolitiikka ja aluetiede 62 sivua Toukokuu 2018 Tutkielman lähtökohtana on Suomen ensimmäisen jäähallin, Hakametsän, poistu- minen otteluareenana käytöstä uuden Tampereen keskustaan rakentuvan ns. kan- siareenan myötä. Ottelutapahtumapaikat ovat tärkeitä kaltaisilleni kannattajille ympäri maailmaa. Niin myös Hakametsän jäähalli. Uuden tapahtumapaikan valmistuttua nämä kannattajat tulevat seuraamaan kannattajaidentiteettinsä mukaisesti kannattamaansa seuraa uuteen areenaan. Tutkielman tavoite oli löytää asioita Hakametsästä, joita uudella areenalla edistämällä voitaisiin kotouttaa vanhat kannattajat uuteen halliin. Tutkielma on osa aluetieteen paikkatutkimusta, eli paikkatunteen ja paikkojen mer- kityksen tutkimusta, joissa ihmisten kokemuksella on oleellinen osa. Tutkielma on näin laadullinen haastattelututkimus jossa sekä jäähallissa että kannattajamatkoilla tehdyistä haastatteluista analysoimalla eroteltiin kannattajien paikkakokemusta, ”hakamettän henkeä”, muodoissa joita voisi uudessa areenarakentamisessa huo- mioida. They'll see another one on the other side of the ice Tuesday night in Joe Louis Arena. The Detroit Red Wings have made the Stanley Cup playoffs for 25 consecutive seasons but they have lots of work to do if they want to extend the longest active streak of any of the four major North American pro sports leagues to 26. The Red Wings are seventh in the Atlantic Division with 34 points, two points ahead of the last-place Sabres. Both teams are chasing third-place Boston for the final playoff slot. The Bruins have 40 points and have a huge task slated for Tuesday at Columbus, which is on a franchise-record 12-game winning streak. As per the NHL's collective bargaining agreement, all teams are off Dec. 24-26 from games, practices and travel, so neither skated Monday. NHL rosters have been frozen for the holidays since Dec. 19 and that freeze expires at 11:59 p.m. Monday, so teams will be again free to make moves prior to their next game. The Sabres, who have slid into the division basement by going 0-2-2 in their last four games, are scheduled to fly to Detroit Tuesday morning and head right to the rink for their 11:30 a.m.
