The mid-morning Office of Prime at 9am Page 2 Preparation for Page 5 Order for Mass at 9:30am Page 6 Benediction of the Page 10

¶ Please note .

Mass during COVID-tide is necessarily different. Some elements of the Liturgy with which we are familiar have been suspended in the interests of simplifying the Liturgy to meet our circumstances, and shortening our time in the building. Our goal is to provide an experience of worship that is at once in continuity with the familiar, but different enough so that comparisons between pre- and post-COVID are minimized. We appreciate your patience as we find something that works in this new landscape. We are all doing our best.

● Please wear a mask while you are in the building. Hand sanitizer is available at the doors. ● At the direction of the Bishop, the Holy Communion may not be distributed at this time. Thus, this and all Masses at the Advent are non-communicating, meaning that only the celebrant receives. In receiving Communion, the priest receives on behalf of everyone present. ● So that you can make a , Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament will take place immediately following Mass. ● Congregational hymn singing is not permitted at this time. ● Collection plates will not be passed. There will be a basket to receive your offering at the entrance and exits of the church. ● For the time being, there is no coffee hour. If you socialize on the sidewalks, please wear masks and maintain appropriate distancing.

In the event of our learning that someone at Mass today tests positive for COVID-19 in the next several days, we want to be able to inform you, so that in consultation with your physician, you can take the appropriate steps.

If you registered to come to Mass today, we already have your contact information, and will reach out to you if we learn that someone here has tested positive. If you have not registered, please do so by scanning this QR code and entering the information, or by giving your name and contact information to an Usher.

We will make any announcement of a positive test on the parish website as well (under the tab “COVID-19”), so please check the website on a regular basis. Note that this information will not include the name of the person who tested positive, which will be kept confidential, but only the Mass which they attended and any other relevant non-personal information.

Collect for Purity

The Holy , Rite I at 9:30am Modal Communion Service —Harold Friedell (1905–1958)

Introit Dum clamarem Mode VII Ant. W hen I called upon the LORD, he regarded my petition; yea, from the battle that was against me: and he hath brought them down, even he that is of old, and endureth for ever: O cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall nourish thee. Psalm. Hear my prayer, O Lord, and hide not thyself from my petition; take heed unto me, and hear me. .

Kyrie

Gloria

Collect O Lord, we beseech thee mercifully to receive the prayers of thy people who call upon thee, and grant that they may both perceive and know what things they ought to do, and also may have grace and power faithfully to fulfill the same; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without end. Amen. ¶ The people are seated. Reading Romans 8:9–17 But you are not in the flesh, you are in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Any one who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although your bodies are dead because of sin, your spirits are alive because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit which dwells in you. So then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh – for if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the spirit of sonship. When we cry, “Abba! Father!” it is the Spirit himself bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

Gradual Custodi me Mode V Keep me, O LORD, as the apple of an eye: hide me under the shadow of thy wings. Let my sentence come forth from thy presence: and let thine eyes look upon the thing that is equal.

¶ The people stand.

Alleluia Te decet hymnus Mode VII Alleluia. R. Alleluia. V. Thou, O God, art praised in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed in Jerusalem. R. Alleluia.

The Holy Gospel Matthew 13:1–9, 18–23 R. Glory be to thee, O Lord. That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea. And great crowds gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat there; and the whole crowd stood on the beach. And he told them many things in parables, saying: "A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they had not much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose they were scorched; and since they had no root they withered away. Other seeds fell upon thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and brought forth grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He who has ears, let him hear. Hear then the parable of the sower. When any one hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what is sown in his heart; this is what was sown along the path. As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away. As for what was sown among thorns, this is he who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the delight in riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. As for what was sown on good soil, this is he who hears the word and understands it; he indeed bears fruit, and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty." R. Praise be to thee, O Christ.

Sermon ¶ Standing. Creed I BELIEVE in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And of all things visible and invisible: And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God; Begotten of his Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, Very God of very God; Begotten, not made; Being of one substance with the Father; By whom all things were made: Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven, And was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary, And was made man: And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried: And the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures: And ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of the Father: And he shall come again, with glory, to judge both the quick and the dead; Whose kingdom shall have no end. And I believe in the Holy Ghost, The Lord, and Giver of Life, Who proceedeth from the Father

and the Son; Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; Who spake by the Prophets: And I believe one holy Catholic and Apostolic Church: I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins: And I look for the Resurrection of the dead: And the Life of the world to come. Amen.
