Our Executive Director, Dr. Mike St. Pierre, has really FROM THE energized our national office operations. It is exciting to see our staff working BOARD CHAIR passionately to support our membership across the country.

I am particularly encouraged by the serious and thoughtful conversations taking place on campuses and throughout the Church. The recent Convocation hosted by the USCCB in Orlando is a great example of the in the United States striving to serve with greater purpose and vision – and campus ministers are right in the thick of that conversation.

Our campus ministers are giving the very best of themselves to equip young people with both the skills and heart necessary to proclaim the Good News to Fr. Chris LeBlanc those who need to hear it the most. Our members are laying it all on the line to Chairman of the make a difference and I am proud to serve them. Executive Board May the Lord bring to fulfillment the good work He has begun in us!

The 2016-2017 year was a whirlwind as I got to meet so many of you in person. The FROM THE work of Catholic campus ministers is extraordinary and their work is needed more than ever EXECUTIVE before. The CCMA end-of-year financial report is provided by Lee and Kissick, CPA. U N N A FROM BISHOP CHERI My summer has been a busy one, unusual in the fact that I attended the June meeting of the USCCB, the Chapter of the OFM Sacred Heart Province, the Convocation of Catholic Leaders, a meeting with the FOCUS leadership team, the National Black Catholic Congress (with a special meeting of the with black youth and young adults), the Joint Conference of African clergy and religious, and the Gospel Music Workshop of America. I am energized by the enthusiasm and spirit these Catholic leaders shared with me. I am encouraged to celebrate the rich diversity of Catholicism as well as the great power for keeping relevant the church today. I am not naive of the tremendous challenges in upholding to these responsibilities, but “a charge to keep I have and a God to glorify.”

I know that alone it can seem impossible, but as I told the FOCUS Leadership, we have been blessed with those who have gone before us giving their testimony and God keeps providing us new places and new faces that can enable us to bring Christ to the world. We have to continue to draw from past resources and make room for new ones as we go step by step as the Body of Christ. Catholic Campus Ministry is in need of our testimony as we open the way for formation and witnessing to those "We have to young hearts, minds and souls who come before us. God is always making a way for continue to draw us to confess and profess the salvation we have in Jesus Christ. As St. Francis said to the brothers upon his death, “Let us begin brothers (and sisters), from past for up to now, we have done little or nothing.” resources and Peace & All Good, make room for new ones..." +Bishop Fernand Cheri (CCMA Episcopal Moderator)

Every Thursday, a student named Tom and I visit our local nursing home, one block away from the Newman Center. At WHY I SERVE first, Tom stood by stoically while I made small-talk with the three women to whom we deliver Holy Communion. He clearly was out of his comfort zone – chiming in solely when it was time to pray, extending only his hand to say goodbye.

Early on, I was tempted to wonder whether these visits were worth Tom's time, amidst his studies and other commitments at the Newman Center. Beneath his aloofness, was he enjoying himself? Was he getting anything out of it? I was grateful for his commitment but eager to see him more engaged. Lillie Romeiser This past Thursday, after our most recent visit, I was struck by Director of just how far Tom has come: he leans his giant 6'3'' frame down Campus Ministry to embrace Lily, a senior citizen in her wheelchair (to which she 6

Jason Simon Executive Director The Evangelical Catholic

The Catholic Campus Ministry Association is positioned to impact the lives of thousands of students by equipping lay and ordained campus ministry leaders for dynamic outreach and formation. Catholic campus ministers need more practical support for evangelization. They want to grow in their fruitfulness through sources of inspiration and resources that keep them sharp and focused. CCMA is filling this crucial need in order to help campus ministers make more disciples and raise up a new generation of Catholic laity to bring the Gospel to the world. CCMA has multiplied the outreach of our organization and so many other Catholic leaders need similar support to reach more students. For these reasons, I give to CCMA each month and savor each opportunity to tell others about the gift of Catholic campus ministry! 7 1 0 2
