Determination: Adverse Effect to Historic Properties Dear Ms. Sanders: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), New Orleans District (CEMVN), Regulatory Branch, has received a permit request from Delta Coast Consultants, LLC, on the behalf of (obo) Bayou Lafourche Fresh Water District (BLFWD; Project ID # MVN-2017-00684-CO) to construct the Bayou Lafourche Mississippi River Re-Introduction and Pumping Capacity Improvement Project (BLMRRPCIP) at Donaldsonville, in Ascension Parish, Louisiana. BLFWD proposes to significantly expand the pumping capacity in this area to increase the supply of fresh water into Bayou Lafourche to benefit costal marshes and protect against salt intrusion in the bayou's historical flow area and to meet the long-term water supply need of the communities along the Bayou Lafourche corridor. In partial fulfillment of CEMVN’s responsibilities under Executive Order 13175, the National Environmental Policy Act, as amended (42 U.S.C. § 4321 et seq.), Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), as amended (54 U.S.C. § 306108), and its implementing regulations, 36 Code of Federal Regulations [CFR] Part 800, and Section 110 of the NHPA, that requires each Federal agency to assume responsibility for the preservation of historic properties or resources that fall under the agency’s jurisdiction and that such properties are maintained and managed in a way that considers the preservation of their historic, archaeological, architectural, and cultural values.
