Upon deployment of this phased multi-year implementation, Guidewire’s software will fully replace Guild’s current end-to-end claims handling, policy administration, billing and reinsurance solutions. A significant percentage of these functions are performed manually today, so the implementation of the Guidewire solution will mark a fundamental change in the way Guild is able to operate its business. The train counts process – introduction 1.1 The data in this Ten Busiest Trains publication has been derived from a mix of manual snapshot counts and Automated Passenger Counts (APC). Fitment of Automatic Passenger Counting (APC) equipment has been completed across 40% of the fleet, and this will allow ScotRail better to manage its train fleet efficiently going forward, as the equipment provides more frequent and accurate passenger loading data. 1.2 It is a requirement of the Franchise Agreement that the Franchisee shall undertake a minimum of four counts per year, once automated passenger counting equipment has been installed (with the exception of the Class 314 trains, where the equipment has not been fitted as they are due to go off-lease at the end of the year; therefore, manual counts are still undertaken). Previously, all passenger counts was undertaken via manual ‘snapshot’ surveys which were undertaken annually. 1.3 ScotRail’s franchise obligation is to use reasonable endeavours to allocate its train fleet and resources in the most effective way, to provide passengers with a reasonable expectation of a seat within 10 minutes of boarding a train, and to minimise any forecast overcrowding. The exception is on non-stop train journeys between Glasgow Central and Paisley Gilmour Street. This is because a journey between those two stations is served by 8 trains per hour in either direction, with a journey time of ten or eleven minutes. 1.4 The passenger carrying capacity for each service and passenger numbers are incorporated into a Train Plan which ScotRail is obliged to prepare and submit to Transport Scotland for consideration & approval, for each timetable change in May and December. -

Understanding Scottish Places Summary This report presents a summary of the Your Town Audit (YTA) for Busby, conducted by Scotland’s Towns Partnership and EKOS. The detailed YTA Framework and Data Workbook are provided under separate cover. The YTA was developed to provide a framework to measure and monitor the performance of Scotland’s towns and town centres using a series of Key Performance Indicators. It provides a comprehensive audit of Busby with data on up to 180 KPIs across seven themes – Locality, Accessibility, Local Services, Activities + Events, Development Capacity, Tourism, and Place + Quality Impressions. 225 Chapter Seven – Gastonia Ellen was the first woman organizer to arrive in Gastonia. As a result, she played a pivotal role in what is perhaps the most infamous strike in the history of the southern textile industry – the 1929 strike at the Loray Mill in Gastonia, North Carolina. Sent to Gastonia by Albert Weisbord in response to Fred Beal’s request for assistance, she arrived just days before the strike began. On March 30, 1929, at the union’s first public meeting in Gastonia, Ellen was the first speaker to address workers in a rally near the Loray Mill. In the following weeks, she was instrumental in organizing and leading the workers of Loray, men and women alike. Despite the subsequent involvement of other women activists in the Gastonia strike, women who represented a variety of organizations, Ellen had two unique characteristics that distinguished her from her female colleagues. She was the only woman organizer who was an experienced textile worker. In fact, at age 28, she had already spent half her life working in textile mills. In addition, her Scottish birth and accent provided a unique bond with southern textile workers, a majority of whom were of Scottish descent. The textile industry in the South dates to the early nineteenth century. Although there is disagreement on the exact date and location, it appears that one of the first textile mills in the Southeastern United States was constructed on the South Fork River, less than fifteen miles north of Gastonia, around 1820. The first mill in 226 Gastonia was constructed during the early 1850s. -

Each profile provides indicators for a range of health outcomes (e.g. life expectancy, mortality, hospitalisation) and health determinants (e.g. smoking levels, breastfeeding, income, employment, crime, education).
