CIS Nomination Guidelines - General 1. CIS does not accept Late Nominations. 2. Nominations will only be accepted online from NSWCISSC Member Schools or Member Associations 3. Once a student or teacher has been registered with CIS any subsequent sport nomination will be a renewal rather than a registration. 4. As a nominating teacher or association please ensure the students name, and date of birth have been entered correctly and the Parent/Guardian email is correct and frequently used. The system will send an email to the parent to enable them to complete the registration /renewal process. 5. A sport nomination fee of $25.03 will be charged for all sports in 2019 except for triathlon. The per nomination fee will be charged via the Sports Association and school, at the end of each term.

Parent / Guardians please note: If your son/daughter has been nominated to attend a CIS trial you will receive an email with a link enabling you to complete the registration process or in the case of a student that has already registered to the system, a renewal in another sport.

If you have not received an email and you believe your son/daughter should have been nominated, please take the following steps prior to the close of nominations.

i) Check your junk email.

ii) Contact the Head of Sport at your son/daughter’s school

This should be done prior to nominations closing. Failure to amend/complete your son/daughter’s details by Close of Nominations may result in them not being permitted to trial. CIS DOES NOT ACCEPT LATE NOMINATIONS.

CIS Website Updating member details Parents will be able to click on the link loaded on each sport page and use their son/daughter’s username and password to login and update their details for a sport. For students nominated in multiple sports the common details will be automatically filled across the various sports with the ability to update relevant sports details i.e. Playing positions, done through the sport page.

For Parents & Students

All students must be nominated by the Head of Sport or a staff member from their school. Once nominated, a

link will be emailed to the parent/guardian contact email. To complete the nomination process, click on the

link and update your son/daughter’s details.

CIS Sport Convenor Nominations 2020 - Nominations will remain open for another week CIS Sport Convenors are charged with overseeing a sport from nominations, through events and selection, to liaising with team management in preparing CIS teams for competition, to CIS Awards Nominations. It is a challenging role, however, can also be very rewarding. Convenors are appointed for a year. Convenors that hope to continue in the role need to re-apply. Any teacher wishing to be appointed as a convenor in 2020 should also submit a nomination form.

Action photos are required to be submitted with the nomination. Parents can be approached to assist with action photos, please ensure they realise it is required for the nomination and does not mean they are receiving an award.

Team of the Year

A basic outline of award criteria is provided below.

Medallion Nominations CIS medallions are awarded to a student that has been selected in and competes in either a NSWPSSA or a NSW All Schools Team at the SSA Championships. These nominations are done automatically you do not need to nominated medallion recipients.

Reds (Primary Award)

These are generally awarded to the best two primary students per sport /per gender provided they have reached the SSA level in 2019.

Blues (Secondary Award) These are generally awarded to the best two students per sport /per gender provided they have reached the SSA level in 2019. They are nominated by the convenor through their CIS Team Management Area. There are some specific awards criteria mainly relating to individual sports e.g. swimming, athletics, cross country and a few team sports. Please refer to the CIS Awards criteria available on the Awards page of the CIS website.

Red or Blue Bars are awarded to those students whom, for a second year, fulfil the Blue or Red criteria in the same sport.

A Blue with Honours is awarded to an athlete who after representing CIS and NSW All Schools has been named in a national team at the SSA Championships, or where no national team is named achieved at the highest possible level.

Reds, Blues, Bars and Honours are all nominated by the convenor. Award Nominations are being accepted in all sports, once their SSA Championship has been completed.

Heads of Sport and Award Nominations A list of those that have been nominated for Medallions, Reds and Blues will be forwarded to schools for checking by Friday 15 November. This is your opportunity to check students from your school that should have been nominated for an award have been and to contact CIS if you feel that one of your students has been missed. Please check that the student meets the CIS Awards Criteria before contacting CIS. We ask all Heads of Sport to forward action photos to CIS of all students that have been nominated for a Red or Blue Award in preparation for the Awards Evening to be held in February. This will enable us to prepare for the Awards Evening over the holiday period and reduce the pressure in the chaotic first few weeks of Term 1 2020 for everyone.

The Awards Committee will meet in early December to confirm the award recipients for 2019. At this time the Outstanding Primary Sports boy and Sportsgirl as well as Secondary Sportsman and Sportswoman for 2019 will be determined. Should you feel you have a student that may be in the running for one of these awards please forward any supporting information from the school that may assist the Awards Committee with their decision.

RESULTS PSSA Athletics

The NSWPSSA Athletics Championship was held last Wednesday and Thursday at Olympic Park. Although there is no progression from this event, as the SSA Athletics Championships have already been held, the event was still keenly contested and provided a great spectacle for both participants and supporters that had travelled from across NSW to compete. Our CIS athletes competed well and were supported by our enthusiastic team managers Peter Groves, Macarthur Anglican School, NASSA; Rachelle Davis, Ascham, IPSHA; Kath Sambell, Kambala, IPSHA and Mary Webster, CIS. Congratulations to the following students achieved podium places, with a few of them equalling or breaking PSSA records.
