Please join me in congratulating Robin Antone in her recent promotion to Quality Assurance Manager. This managerial Congratulations function will be in addition to her current role to Fred, a finalist as our Corporate Compliance Officer and recently selected candidate to the CARF for Nonprofit Executive Surveyor Training Program, by the of the Year. Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). In her new role, as the Quality Assurance Manager, she will be managing the daily duties of our Contract Coordinator in addition to Interpreting policies, Fred Richards procedures, and ensuring contractual compliance. This role is critical to the overall Goodwill Industries of success of our organization. Southwest Florida Thank you Robin for your years of dedication to this organization and congratulations on your promotion!

SWEET POTATO Though creamy vegetable pie recipes date back to Medieval Europe, pie ap- pears in the southern from the early colonial days. The use of sweet potatoes in Southern and African- traces back to West African influences.

 1 (1 pound) sweet potato

 ½ cup butter, softened

 1 cup white sugar

 ½ cup milk

 2 eggs

 ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

 ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust

DIRECTIONS

Boil sweet potato whole in skin for 40 to 50 minutes, or until done. Run cold water over the sweet potato, and remove the skin.

Break apart sweet potato in a bowl. Add butter, and mix well with mixer. Stir in sugar, milk, eggs, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla. Beat on medium speed until mixture is smooth. Pour fill- ing into an unbaked pie crust.

Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 55 to 60 minutes, or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Pie will puff up like a soufflé, and then will sink down as it cools.

Page 7 Meet Kimberly from United Way By: Team

The Journalism Team interviewed Kimberly Fay from United Way, in order to get to know a little bit more about what the United Way Campaign is. The interview took place on 10/07/20 via Zoom. She stopped by later on to meet us in person!

1. What is your job title? What does that mean? Answer: Resource account manager in the resource development department. I work with partners like Goodwill to do an employee giving campaign to raise dollars to keep programs running. 2. How long have you worked for United Way? Answer: Since August 2018. 3. What does being a United Way Partner mean? Answer: Working together to get to a main goal and support each other’s mission. We do what we can to help our partners get what they need. 4. What is the goal of the United Way campaign? Answer: Overall goal is to raise 10.8 million dollars. 5. How does United Way help the community? Answer: When community members call 211 we connect them with partner agen- cies to get additional assistance. We are the ones who connect the caller to all the different forms of help they may need. 6. What would you like our peers to know about United Way? Answer: United Way helps every single person in our community, we want to make sure that no one falls through the gaps and that everyone knows that we are here for them. We help with paying bills, transportation and everything else. Page 8
