(part 1)

Part 1 Hi everyone. Here we are with a new 'Exploring Regi-SStick' series dedicated, this time, to the Regi-SStick Plus. It was great to meet so many of you at Alvaston Hall recently and, from the number of questions asked about Regi-SStick Plus over the Club Weekend, it’s clear that there’s a big demand for some song suggestions to go with the new registrations. So, here are a few to get you started, based on the music I enjoy playing using the Regi-SStick Plus. Important: There are always some initial questions that crop up frequently when a new product is introduced and one such question associated with Regi-SStick Plus concerns the Parameter Lock feature. If you follow the instructions that come with your Regi-SStick Plus you’ll see that you’re advised to set the Parameter Lock if you use a playing mode (e.g. single finger chord etc.) that is different from the default one. The Parameter Lock 'locks' your preferred choice of split point and fingering mode so that everyone can use the new registrations in the style of their choice. If you've mislaid the instructions already (!), you'll find a PDF copy on the stick itself which you can view on any home PC with Adobe Acrobat Reader. There are so many registrations on Regi-SStick Plus that I've taken banks A-JJ alphabetically from the Registration Menu for this first list… plenty to keep you going until next time when we'll look at banks J-ZZ.

Part 2 Hi everyone. From the overwhelming level of feedback we’ve received it seems that our first list of song suggestions has proved to be very useful to many of you… so here's part two of our suggested repertoire list using banks J-ZZ. Bear in mind that these are only suggestions based on the songs that I've enjoyed playing. You might come up with some more - so why not share them with other Regi-SStickers on the Yamaha Club forum? In the next edition, I'll be looking in more detail at the Classical and Theatre Organ registrations and exploring the fantastic ‘Melody Maker’ section. Before that, however, let's go straight to our first bank of registrations, one of my personal favourites…

Hello Regi-Stickers… and welcome to the latest in our ‘Exploring Regi-Stick Plus’ series. I know many of you have been having fun working through our list of suggested song titles over the past couple of issues (if you've missed them, back copies are available from Yamaha Club office). This time we're going to look in a little more detail at some of the unique settings that really transform the Tyros2.

Tyros2 includes some great theatre organ and home When the Pedal Bass voices are installed you can organ styles and if you use these together with the create perfect 'organ' style performances using the factory One Touch Settings (OTS) you can achieve Tyros2 with MIDI bass pedals - with an organ some fantastic results. But what if you want to play registration for the right hand, a different organ classical organ or, maybe, theatre organ sounds in a accompaniment setting for the left hand, and a bass 'true' organ style with no accompaniment style? This is voice for the pedals. We've discussed previously in Yamaha huge repertoire - and for this very reason I haven’t Club magazine how this can be achieved, but here's a provided a list of suggested songs for these sections. quick recap…

Importantly, the Regi-Stick Plus also includes a whole bank of new 'Pedal Bass' voices… and these are vital to Classical Organ 1

A good We've taken the bass pedal sound from the 'pedal play' source of theatre-style repertoire is the 'Organist Entertains' settings - and transferred it to the 'Left' section of the series of books, which include some brilliant arrangements keyboard (i.e. the section where you normally play chords to by many of our best-known theatre organ stars. control the accompaniment style). This means that you can play the bass line manually in this part of the keyboard and still achieve a full, rich, bass tone. However, because these sounds were intended originally to be played on the pedals - and because the bass notes are so deep - you can't (or mustn’t) play chords down there as the effect would be much too muddy and unpleasant. So, if you're playing the bass line with your left hand (single notes only!), and the melody with your right... where do the chords go? Well, the only place to put them is underneath the melody line. In other words, you need to play the chords and melody with your right hand. The overall effect is not Theatre USA quite as effective as you'd get when playing with pedals - but Theatre Soft it's pretty close and certainly as near as you could possibly Theatre Full wish for when using the Tyros2 on its own. This playing style works really well with many popular hymns and other sacred repertoire - why not give it a try?

No pedalboard? It doesn’t matter... Melody Maker What if you don't have a MIDI bass pedalboard? Can you produce a similar effect when playing the Tyros2 alone? Surely it can't be possible... well folks, it is! The ‘Theatre Organ’ settings on the Regi-Stick Plus are set up in a slightly different way for the 'Auto Bass' version… in fact, they've all been specifically re-programmed and re- balanced just for our non-pedal playing friends! When using these settings in 'Pedal Play' mode, the great right-hand sounds are teamed with a beautiful left-hand tibia registration and, of course, the theatre organ pedal bass sound. But when using the 'Auto Bass' settings the left hand and pedal sounds are replaced with Tyros2’s fantastic theatre accompaniment styles; you play a chord and the melody - and Tyros2 fills in the gaps! We've re-voiced and re-mixed the styles to suit the new right- hand sounds so that you always get a perfectly balanced The ‘Melody Maker’ section is one that many people have result.
