    A Kentucky Golf Foundation Program Justin starting playing golf at the age of two and was competing in tournaments by the age of eight, winning his first tournament that June in the 12 and Under Division. Justin has won 125 individual events on the local, national and international stage, and has been a part of many victorious teams. One of the top players in the Polo Junior rankings and a Polo All American in 2010, Justin went to high school at St. Xavier High School in Louisville, winning the state high school championship both individually and twice as a team. He was named Mr. Golf in Kentucky in 2009. In 2010, Justin won the Terra Cotta Invitational, with a final round 66, his first major amateur win. That summer he was runner- up at the US Junior Amateur and in 2011, Justin won the International Junior Byron Nelson Award. Justin continued his golf at the University of Alabama where he won the first college event he played in, The Carpet Classic, firing a 30 on his final nine. In addition to winning the prestigious Jones Cup Invitational, one of the top prizes in amateur golf, Justin won six events as an individual. As a freshman, Justin won the Haskins Award and the Jack Nicklaus Award, as the national NCAA Division I Player of the Year, and the Phil Mickelson Award as the Freshman Player of the Year. He was a SEC Champion as an individual and twice a member of the Alabama team in 2012 & 2013, Justin was also named SEC Player of the Year in 2012.

Bert Yancey 3rd in the Masters & U.S. Open 1969 Al Besselink won the Section Championship and the Prior Golf Festival. 1960 When the New Year began the Philadelphia Section had a new member on the PGA Tour. Jon Gustin was playing out of the Philadelphia Country Club. The Country Club’s professional Loma Frakes and two of the mem- bers backed him on the tour financially for four years. His ball striking abil- ity was legendary. He was one of the few players that Ben Hogan would pause to watch hit balls on the practice tee. While serving in the marines Gustin was in President Eisenhower’s Color Guard at the White House.

    Celebrating Our Heritage, Preserving Our Future RCC Heritage Tournament July 11, 2020 Start Spreading the News Reading Times, November 4, 1922 olf was new to Berks County in the 1920s. Berkshire Country G Club built the county’s first golf course in 1898 near Carsonia Park and the Galen Hall resort hotel opened nine holes designed by Alexander Findlay in 1911. The game caught on quickly to the point that Reading Country Club was chartered in 1922. The announce- ment was greeted with great interest in the Berks community. RCC held its first membership din- ner on March 15, 1923, at The Berkshire Hotel in Reading. Alexander Findlay, the golf course designer, spoke to the mem- bers as did former Governor William Sproul and Mayor John Stauffer. These articles are just a few of the stories about RCC that appeared in the Times and the Eagle. Reading Times, May 24, 1923 Reading Eagle, May 28, 1924 Reading Times, September 5, 1922 Home Looted, Ball Missing n August 7, 1929, the Reading Times reported a theft at the home of John O Rader, a professor at Reading High School, who said his home was entered while he was away. Although the home was ransacked, Rader told police only one item was missing: a golf ball. But not just any golf ball. GEORGE ARCHER (USA) 1939 – 2005 Archer won 13 events on the PGA Tour, including the 1969 Masters, and at 6 ft. 5½ in. he is the tallest ever golfer to win a major. After his death, it was revealed that Archer was barely able to read or write, and a Foundation set up in his name has since raised more than $1m to help those afflicted with learning disabilities. PAUL AZINGER (USA) 1960 - Azinger won 12 times on the PGA Tour, including the 1993 PGA Championship. He spent almost 300 weeks in the top 10 of the Official World Golf Rankings between 1988 and 1994. In the mid-90s, Azinger successfully battled non-Hodgkin lymphoma in his right shoulder, and he is now a respected TV analyst. Trenham 1950 to 1959 Contents 1950 Ben Hogan won the U.S. Open at Merion and Henry Williams, Jr. was runner-up in the PGA Championship. 1951 Ben Hogan won the Masters and the U.S. Open before ending his eleven-year association with Hershey CC. 1952 Dave Douglas won twice on the PGA Tour while Henry Williams, Jr. and Al Besselink each won also. 1953 Al Besselink, Dave Douglas, Ed Oliver and Art Wall each won tournaments on the PGA Tour. 1954 Art Wall won at the Tournament of Champions and Dave Douglas won the Houston Open. 1955 Atlantic City hosted the PGA national meeting and the British Ryder Cup team practiced at Atlantic City CC. 1956 Mike Souchak won four times on the PGA Tour and Johnny Weitzel won a second straight Pennsylvania Open. 1957 Joe Zarhardt returned to the Section to win a Senior Open put on by Leo Fraser and the Atlantic City CC. 1958 Marty Lyons and Llanerch CC hosted the first PGA Championship contested at stroke play. 1959 Art Wall won the Masters, led the PGA Tour in money winnings and was named PGA Player of the Year. 1950 In early January Robert “Skee” Riegel announced that he was turning pro.
