Perched on the summit of the Citadel, the Ottoman mosque with its animated silhouette and twin minarets, the largest to be built in the first half of the 19th century, is the most visible mosque in Cairo. 1829 Egypt Migrations Al-Waqa'i`a al-Masriya is established by order of Khedive Muhammad ‘Ali.
