A5 Irish Trainer Ad 2018_FINAL.indd 1 19/09/2018 11:41 THE IRISH TRAINER / OCTOBER 2018 Foreword

In relation to work permits we have to prove that jobs are being advertised but not being filled and in order to prove this we need to any jobs on the Jobs Ireland page www.jobsireland.ie, which can be seen by people on the live register. We are in talks with the Department of Business and Innovation, with the help of Elaine Burke from Ireland.

I’m happy with the 2019 race programme announced and see it as a step in the right direction. It’s particularly important to show the Work Relations Committee that the industry recognises the problems for staff and is working towards improving working conditions, with a reduction in Sunday meetings and last race times.

Any requests from Irish trainers with full licences without runners wishing to attend the Cheltenham November meeting on the 16th-18th need to apply to our office before 9 November. Trainers will have to produce their licences at the desk in person in order to collect their tickets on the racing day.

Finally, just to confirm that our Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday 27th of November at 3pm in the Keadeen Hotel, Newbridge, Co. Kildare. The more trainers present the better, so we can represent your views and needs.

Kind regards,

Michael Grassick / Irish Racehorse Trainers Association
