Suzuki Announces FY2019 Vehicle Recycling Results in Japan
22 June 2020 Suzuki Announces FY2019 Vehicle Recycling Results in Japan Suzuki Motor Corporation has today announced the results of vehicle recycling for FY2019 (April 2019 to March 2020) in Japan, based on the Japan Automobile Recycling Law*1. In line with the legal mandate, Suzuki is responsible for promoting appropriate treatment and recycling of automobile shredder residue (ASR), airbags, and fluorocarbons through recycling fee deposited from customers. Recycling of these materials are appropriately, smoothly, and efficiently conducted by consigning the treatment to Japan Auto Recycling Partnership as for airbags and fluorocarbons, and to Automobile Shredder Residue Recycling Promotion Team*2 as for ASR. The total cost of recycling these materials was 3,640 million yen. Recycling fees and income generated from the vehicle-recycling fund totalled 4,150 million yen, contributing to a net surplus of 510 million yen. For the promotion of vehicle recycling, Suzuki contributed a total of 370 million yen from the above net surplus, to the Japan Foundation for Advanced Auto Recycling, and 20 million yen for the advanced recycling business of the Company. For the mid-and long-term, Suzuki continues to make effort in stabilising the total recycling costs. Moreover, besides the recycling costs, the Company bears 120 million yen as management-related cost of Japan Automobile Recycling Promotion Center and recycling-related cost of ASR. The results of collection and recycling of the materials are as follows. 1. ASR - 60,388.3 tons of ASR were collected from 450,662 units of end-of-life vehicles - Recycling rate was 96.7%, exceeding the legal target rate of 70% set in FY2015 since FY2008 2. -

The Product Effect: Do Designed Products Convey Their Characteristics To Their Owners? Raja Ahmad Azmeer Raja Ahmad Effendi Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements of the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy Faculty of Design Swinburne University of Technology 2011 ABSTRACT ABSTRACT Malaysia is unique within the Islamic world in developing a motor car industry that is geared towards both internal and export markets. After achieving initial success, its export performance has failed to match that of its international competitors. Factors that are suspected to contribute to this failure is in the technology and styling of its models. Moreover, with the implementation of AFTA (Asean Free Trade Area) in Malaysia, the car industry is expected to face the influx of inexpensive established brands from ASEAN countries which will gradually dominate the local market. The research was cross-cultural and tested for possible differences based on nationality and gender. It used qualitative and quantitative techniques consisting of a Car Positioning Task using Semantic Differential scales and a derivation of the Room Effect method in order to investigate the perception of cars and its effect upon the perception of its owner. The pilot and actual surveys using Room Effect method were carried out with international participants. The results indicated that it is reliable and can be used to reveal cultural and gender differences. Toyota adds vehicles to Takata safety recall involving certain Toyota and Lexus models January 09, 2019 PLANO, Texas, January 9, 2019 –As a result of the most recent action taken by Takata under its 2016 agreement with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to fix defective airbag inflators, Toyota is adding vehicles to the series of safety recalls it has been conducting. This latest recall includes certain 2010-2016 Model Year 4Runner, 2010-2013 Model Year Corolla, 2010-2013 Model Year Matrix, 2011-2014 Model Year Sienna, 2010-2015 Model Year Scion XB, 2010-2012 Model Year Lexus ES 350, 2010-2017 Model Year Lexus GX 460, 2010-2015 Model Year Lexus IS 250C, 2010-2015 Model Year Lexus IS 350C, 2010-2013 Model Year Lexus IS 250, 2010-2013 Model Year Lexus IS 350 and 2010-2014 Model Year Lexus IS-F vehicles. Approximately 1.3 million vehicles are involved in the United States. The subject vehicles are equipped with front passenger airbag inflators that contain a non-desiccated, phase- stabilized ammonium nitrate propellant. A defect related to motor vehicle safety may arise in the inflators due to propellant degradation occurring after prolonged exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling. Activation of a non-desiccated ammonium nitrate inflator with degraded propellant may result in an airbag inflator rupture. If a defective airbag inflator ruptures, it may cause sharp metal fragments to pass through the airbag and spray directly at the driver and passengers, increasing the risk of serious injury or death. Depending on the vehicle model, Toyota and Lexus dealers will replace either the front passenger airbag inflator or airbag assembly at no cost to owners.
