The program enables each runner to reach their peak for the CWUAA Championship meet to be held in Calgary Oct. 23, 1993. Kathe has her Bachelor of Education and is a Level Two Coach, specializing middle to long distances. She has spent 13 years as a competitive athlete and coach. This year's team looks very strong with a full roster on both the men's and women's team. The return of last year's most valuable, player -Jennifer Wakefield, along with five returning runners will make for a very strong team. Kathe is pleased with the new recruit, Krista Beddoes - ACAC Cross Country Champion 1992. The men's team is in a building year with the graduation of five members. The team looks strong in new talent for the coming season. Last year each runner set a personal best, which is all that a coach can wish for their athletes, to be the best that they can be! Barton comes to the U of L from the University of W California-Berkley where he was the head swim coach. he 1993-94 judo season for the University of Lethbridge Judo Club looks promising with most of Tthe athletes back from last season. '93-'94 Pronghorn Male Athlete of the Year, Paul Whishaw, will again lead the team. Last season Whishaw had an out­ standing record of five gold and one silver medal in six meets entered. In all, coach Yosh Senda, an eighth Dan, will have six provincial champions, three silver medallists and several bronze medalMsts returning to his team. Also last year, the Pronghorn Judo Club captured medals from the U of A Tournament, Pacific International Tournament in Richmond, B.C., Continental Crown in Spokane, Washington, and the Regina Open. Along with Whishaw, returnees include Troy Matteotti, Jason Johnston, Mark Iwaasa, Steven Iwaasa, Mike Higa, Troy Furukawa, Robert Otani, Mike Mercier, Wes Cooper, Steve Thomas among others. The promising ladies group that will compete this season includes Helen Frankum, Annie Kwong, Penny Wyld, Nickie McCoy and Tara Failing. . Returning to the U of L will be Scott Hironaka. Hironaka was the 1991 Canadian Junior Champion and Bronze Medallist at Senior Nationals that year. He returns PRONGHORN JUDO after a two year mission abroad.
