ANDROID AUTO How it Works Android AutoTM is a simple and smart way to use your AndroidTM smartphone in your vehicle. One of the new Phone Integration features available on select MyLink/IntelliLink/CUE infotainment systems, Android Auto enables Android smartphone users to display certain apps and functionality from their phone on the vehicle’s infotainment display, allowing them to control those apps and functions via the vehicle’s infotainment system touchscreen or voice commands. Android Auto may automatically launch upon USB connection. If not, press the Android Auto icon on the HOME page to launch. The Android Auto home screen will appear, and you can choose the app you want to use. To use Android Auto, you phone must be running Android 5.0 or higher, and you must download the Android Auto app to your compatible phone from the Google Play store. if you don’t have the app installed on your phone, you’ll be prompted to download it upon connecting via USB cable. You can enter Android Auto mode, but then exit out to other MyLink/IntelliLink infotainment settings and menus at any time by pressing the infotainment HOME button. You can stream music or audible navigation directions from Android Auto while displaying MyLink/IntelliLink infotainment settings/menus, or listen to AM/FM radio while displaying Google Maps. You have the flexibility to choose. While plugged into USB port and running Android Auto on the infotainment screen, the Android phone is locked out from use, encouraging you to keep your eyes on the road and off your phone. Android Auto uses Bluetooth technology to send and receive calls, in addition to the USB connection required to operate the entire feature. If your Android phone has not been previously connected to the MyLink/IntelliLink infotainment system via Bluetooth, upon connecting via USB and launching Android Auto, the Bluetooth pairing process will initiate prior to Android Auto launching. In the infotainment Settings menu, you have the ability to turn off Android Auto entirely. To activate voice commands/Talk to Google, you can do any of the following (Talk to Google function must be turned ON in your GoogleTM Settings menu): ▪ Long press (i.e. press and hold) the voice command or phone button on either the steering wheel controls or the buttons below the infotainment system display. ▪ While in any Android Auto screen, press the Microphone button on upper right of screen.
