Outreach Services on back cover

Strengthening Neighborhoods, Inspiring Learning, Keeping You Curious

Over the past nine months, you’ve participated in interviews, focus groups, surveys, and comment cards. You’ve told us about Kenosha’s strengths and challenges and the library’s role in meeting those challenges. You’ve told us what you love about library services and what you wish we could improve. As we write the plan for service for our next three years, it is clear that there are three areas of focus where we are making an impact and where you would like us to continue to focus. Here’s what you told us:

KPL Strengthens Neighborhoods. Through our four neighborhood libraries and our bookmobile and outreach services, we are ready with information to support your decisions, programs to delight and inform, quiet spaces for study and contemplation, and shared spaces for conversation and creativity. Our neighborhood locations tailor services to you, whether we’re hosting a nearby daycare for storytime, or a writing workshop for budding authors. We’re in your neighborhood parks, in your neighborhood schools, at your senior center, even in the assisted living facility where you live. Your neighborhood library is the anchor you can count on through every phase of your life.

barb KPL Inspires Learning. brattin It’s tough to live in a complex world with conflicting information coming at you from all sides. What to think? Who to believe? You can Director count on the library to have the facts on any subject and a trained librarian to help you wade through the hype to get to the truth. Kenosha Public Library KPL Keeps You Curious We believe everyone is curious at every age. Sometimes our busy adult lives help us forget that. We hope that every time you walk into one of your neighborhood libraries, you find something that surprises you, delights you, maybe even stirs up that dream inside you. Listen to the laughter in the children’s room, sit down for a game of chess, fidget with a new tech toy, and remember what it feels like to take some time for you.

See you at @ Your Library! CLASSES FOR BABIES, TODDLERS AND PRESCHOOLERS (adult attendance required)

NEA BIG READ February 12 - March 10, 2018

We are proud to announce that Kenosha Public Library is again partnering with UW-Parkside in their 2018 NEA Big Read, featuring Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. The dystopian novel takes place in the Great Lakes region after a flu pandemic has killed most of the world’s population.

“Station Eleven is ultimately and intentionally a hopeful book. And it's a reminder that art—a play, a comic book, a musical interlude, a museum display, even an apocalyptic novel—can be the best means towards cultivating a civilization and preserving our humanity.” --Emily St. John Mandel

Please join Kenosha Public Library, UW-Parkside and other community partners for a month long celebration of this work through inspiring discus- sion, exploration and community engagement.
