ART MIAMI RETURNS FOR 30TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION ALONG WITH 8TH EDITION OF CONTEXT ART MIAMI, FEATURING 270 INTERNATIONAL GALLERIES, INNOVATIVE SPECIAL PROJECTS AND PHILANTROPHIC PARTNERSHIPS

(MIAMI, FL – December 3, 2019)– Art Miami, America’s foremost contemporary and modern art fair, and its sister fair CONTEXT Art Miami will return for their respective 30th and 8th installments during Miami Art Week. This year’s fairs will kick-off on Tuesday, December 3rd with an invitation-only VIP Preview evening before opening to the public on December 4th and continuing through December 8th. Art Miami and CONTEXT Art Miami have also announced their philanthropic, luxury jewelry, and health & wellness partnerships for 2019 including Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), Yvel, and Veritas Farms.

The Opening Night Platinum VIP Preview takes place from 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM and is the ‘can’t- miss’ event for all serious collectors, curators, museum directors, art world luminaries to acquire some of the most important works at the forefront of the international contemporary art movement. The VIP preview will run subsequently from 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM. This year’s VIP lounge will be hosted by luxury jewelry sponsor Yvel and the VIP Preview sponsors providing libations for attendees include Moet & Chandon, Tito's Handmade Vodka, Tanqueray and La Croix Sparkling Water. In its 30th year, Art Miami is globally recognized as a primary destination for the acquisition of investment quality works from the 20th and 21st centuries. In its eighth year, CONTEXT Art Miami continues to develop and push boundaries on the conversation about contemporary art and offers an exceptionally strong platform for collectors to discover and acquire fresh and significant works in today’s primary art market from emerging and established galleries.

The fairs will continue to be held at the prestigious waterfront location of One Herald Plaza on Biscayne Bay, conveniently located within walking distance of Museum Park and The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, nestled between the Venetian and MacArthur Causeways in the heart of Downtown Miami.

ART MIAMI HIGHLIGHTS

• Galerie Forsblom will debut a statement sculpture piece by British artist Jason Martin. Martin’s work has been exhibited widely both in the US and Europe at venues including Schauwerk Sindelfingen Museum in Germany in 2017, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice in 2009, and at Centro de Arte Contemporàneo de Malaga in 2008. The matte ultramarine blue cube presentation is a large cork stack sculpture (240 x 300 x 300 cm / 94 x 118 x 118 inches) and will greet each visitor of Art Miami as they enter the fair.

• Opera Gallery will be exhibiting works from Los Angeles based artist, Anthony James’ Birch and Portal Series of sculptures around the Yvel VIP Lounge. James’ work gestures towards minimalism, materiality, process, alchemy, language, mechanization, and

experimentation with light and space. The Birch Series of sculptures debuted in in 2005 and consists of several variously sized, freestanding and wall mounted, internally illuminated, steel and glass vitrines with birch tree trunks inside. The Portal sculptures, made of titanium, LED lights and specialized glass explore concepts of the universal and transcendental.

• Dusseldorf based Galerie Ludorff will show artwork of renowned German Artist Gerhard Richter, including his 1993 oil on canvas painting Grün-Blau-Rot (Green – Blue – Red). Richter is known as one of the most significant contemporary German Artists, focusing both on abstraction and photorealism.

• Mark Borghi Fine Art will be exhibiting a public installation of Chakaia Booker sculptures including Anonymity, 2007 and What’s Not, 2009. Booker is known for her narrative- driven, environmental sculpture work that addresses the struggles and victories in human aspirations and involvement.

• Yvel, Official Luxury Jeweler and VIP Lounge Host, presents Art To Wear Collection- Wearable Works of Art. Yvel is renowned internationally for its exquisite award-winning designs featuring the finest pearls, diamonds and precious gems nature has to offer. Founded in 1986 by Isaac and Orna Levy, Yvel’s magnificent creations are sold on five continents to royalty, celebrities and the world’s most discerning jewelry connoisseurs.

• Veritas Farms, Official Health & Wellness Company of Art Miami, will host the Veritas Farms Plaza Café and welcomes guests to sample their full line of premium hemp oil tinctures, lotions, salves, pet products and beauty products. Their collection is made using full spectrum hemp/CBD oil that is grown, extracted and manufactured right on their farm in Colorado.

• The New York Academy of Art will present an exhibition co-curated by Academy Trustee Brooke Shields, Helena Christensen and President David Kratz. The drawings, paintings, and sculptures have all been created by 25 graduates of the Academy’s MFA program

including Dina Brodsky, Jay Miriam, Nicolas Sanchez, Elisabeth McBrien, and Zeynep Tekiner. The New York Academy of Art is a nonprofit educational and cultural institution that combines intensive technical training in the fine arts with active critical discourse. A curator’s VIP reception will be held in their booth on Thursday, December 5th at 5pm.

• Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) will once again be the philanthropic benefactor of the VIP Previews for Art Miami and CONTEXT Art Miami. Pérez Art Museum Miami promotes artistic expression and the exchange of ideas, advancing public knowledge and appreciation of art, architecture, and design, and reflecting the diverse community of its pivotal geographic location at the crossroads of the Americas. • Young At Art Mini Museum will exhibit select artworks from its summer exhibition, ArtCade along with exciting new games by contemporary artists. Inside the immersive space, children will have the opportunity to create video game inspired artwork through hands-on projects led by educators from Young At Art Institute.

• Artika, the publishing house from that specializes in Limited Edition works created in conjunction with great international artists and produced using painstaking artisan processes will feature two wonderful creations at their Art Miami booth that invite guests to discover the essence of Fernando Botero’s Artist Book, Botero’s Women and Jaume Plensa, 61.

• This year’s fair will feature two book signings. The first, Day to Night by Stephen Wilkes, will take place at the Holden Lunz Gallery Booth on December 5th at 2pm. The second will be at the Veritas Farms Plaza Café on December 7th at 2pm featuring Candid’s Miami by Manny Hernandez.

• CONTEXT Sculpture Park is a dynamic curated program of installations and sculptures by artists represented by CONTEXT’s 2019 exhibitors. The program will present cutting edge and

innovative developments in contemporary sculpture throughout the fair’s public outside areas. The CONTEXT Pavilion will display work by Gilberto Romero, Punk Me Tender, See Young Deok and Zachary Knudson.

• CONTEXT Video is an energetic curated program for video art, experimental film and moving image works by artists represented by 2019 exhibitors. The program will present a contemporary view on the medium, and will be presented within the main floor of the fair. Artists include: Claudio Castillo, Marck, Wendy Wischer, Michelangelo Bastiani, Troy Abbott.

• CONTEXT Sound Positions started at CONTEXT Art Miami in 2014, and since then it has been a strong platform for the presentation of Sound Art in our fair editions in Miami and New York. Sound Positions creates an intimate experience for listening to work of emerging and established sound artists. The program will be presented inside CONTEXT Art Miami VIP Lounge. Artists include: Muu Blanco and Omar Barquet.

• Opera Gallery from Miami is presenting a solo booth by Anthony James. Anthony James is a British/American artist based in Los Angeles, known for his monumental and performative sculptures and installations.

• The Power of Community: On Friday, December 6th, Art Table, POWarts and the Association of Women Art Dealers (AWAD) combine forces and voices for a panel discussion at Art Miami and CONTEXT Art Miami, sponsored by Yvel. Featuring Jessica Porter, Executive Director, ArtTable; Sara Kay, Founder, POWarts; Susan J Mumford, Founder & CEO, Association of Women Art Dealers (AWAD). • Returning to the fair with another solo presentation, RHODES Contemporary from London is presenting the work of British artist Nick Smith. Smith’s work marries digital design with fine art, exploring the relationship between audience, image and text. After deconstructing an image, Smith undertakes extensive research to annotate each color swatch with a word.

• In The Gallery from Copenhagen will debut a solo exhibition by Danish artist Jacob Gils, who has become internationally renowned for his experimental and playful approach to modern photography. For this edition, In The Gallery propose a concoction of two of his most well- known series: Movement and Limit To Your Love.

• Galerie heissingsart from Luebeck, Germany will make its first appearance at the fair, presenting a solo show by Swedish artist Defant. Defant’s works have become an anthropological analyzes of art by absorbing and developing multiple scenarios from day-by- day reality, newspaper reports, and experiences.

• art space SAY from Seoul will present a solo exhibition by artist Mika Kim. Kim’s works appear to be an organic and variable objecta within a restricted, quadrantal space. Her sensible picture plane is seemingly likely to break and disappear due to its fragile appearance fabricated by thin lines overlapping one another and by the arrangement of subtle colors.

• Santo Domingo’s gallery District & Co. will present a solo exhibition by Dominican artist Achilles Azar Billini. The gallery will show an immersive installation of his most recent body of work reaffirming its avant-garde aesthetics. The extraordinary ability of stylistic synthesis, assimilation and transmutation of signs and symbols, establishes him as an insatiable and prodigious polysynthesizer of multiple languages, techniques, media, materials and expressive resources. • Peritechnon Karteris from Athens is presenting “5 Flavors”, a solo exhibition by artist Yorgos Giotsas. “5 Flavors” is a new series of mixed media art works loaded with multiple symbolisms, which form a unique communication code. The significance of each symbol may vary according to its historical background and is greatly enhanced by his use of images and colors.

• Returning with a solo presentation ESTUDIO ARTE CONTEMPORANEO from Havana will present a solo show by Cuban artist Rubén Alpízar who explores the postmodern language and its ambiguity of the political, economic, social and artistic resources in a contemporary world.

• Counterpoint Contemporary will present a new body of work by Italian artist Giancarlo Impiglia. Impiglia established a signature style on the shoulders of Futurism and Cubism, his technical skill underpinning his eclecticism and allowing him to indulge in an appetite for complexity.

• Marcel Katz Art from Miami will present a solo presentation of works of artist Kourosh Keynejad. Keynejad’s photographs explore the connection between humans to one another and the natural world.

• Castle Fitzjohns from New York is presenting a solo booth by WhIsBe, a New York City-based street artist of unverified identity known both for his street and fine art. His work included in several museum collections and public installation spaces, including: The New Museum in New York, MOCO Museum in Amsterdam and real estate developer Larry Silverstein's rebuilt World Trade Center complex.

• Samuel Owen Gallery from Greenwich is presenting “This Is Addictive” by Daniel Allen Cohen. Multi-faceted artist from Los Angeles, California with a flair for commentating on societal issues in unique ways. Often exploring different mediums, Cohen’s projects adapt and evolve with his current focus. Whether he targets addiction, drugs, wealth, or fame, his work is rooted in central themes that urge to be interacted with.

Running from December 3rd through 8th, Art Miami and CONTEXT Art Miami offer an unprecedented level of convenience and a renewed connectivity to the activities and collectors on Miami Beach with accessible parking, a complimentary shuttle service between the fairs and JW Marriott Marquis Miami and Hotel Beaux Arts, and Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM).

Art Miami will continue to feature amenities that improve the guest experience and allow visitors to spend an entire day at the fairs.
