Total damage repair costs from an engineering judg- ment prediction are provided. Spectral Matrix Method calcula- tions are now in progress. Also included are general safety recommendations. A summary of predictions follows: Structural Response Damaging motions are probable in the region inside 25 kilometers. Structural hazards exist in Grand Valley, at the Anvil Points Research Station, and at various small ranches out to a distance of 14 ki lometers from Ground Zero (GZ) . The area is much more densely populated than would appear from initial project informa- tion. Earth Structure Hazards Rockfall and hazards to slope stability create major problems. -

Wood, n, U.S. Bureau of Mines STUDIES RELATED TO WILDERNESS Under the provisions of the Wilderness Act (Public Law 88-577, September 3, 1964) and the Joint Conference Report on Senate Bill 4, 88th Congress, the U.S. Geological Survey and the U.S. Bureau of Mines have been conducting mineral surveys of wilderness and primitive areas. Areas officially designated as "wilderness," "wild," or "canoe" when the act was passed were incorporated into the National Wilderness Preservation System, and some of them are presently being studied. The act provided that areas under consideration for wilderness designation should be studied for suitability for incorporation into the Wilderness System. The mineral surveys constitute one aspect of the suitability studies. The act directs that the results of such surveys are to be made available to the public and be submitted to the President and the Congress. This report discusses the results of a mineral survey of the Buffalo Peaks Wilderness Study Area, Pike and San Isabel National Forests, Lake, Park, and Chaffee Counties, Colo. The area was established as a wilderness study area by Public Law 96-560, December 22, 1980. MINERAL RESOURCE POTENTIAL SUMMARY STATEMENT During 1981 and 1982, the U.S. Geological Survey and the U.S. Bureau of Mines conducted field investigations to evaluate the mineral resource potential of the Buffalo Peaks Wilde-ness Study Area. -

BULL MOOSE SPORTSMENS ALLIANCE/COLORADO BACKCOUNTRY HUNTERS AND ANGLERS/COLORADO TROUT UNLIMITED/COLORADO WILDLIFE FEDERATION/NATIONAL WILDLIFE FEDERATION/THEODORE ROOSEVELT CONSERVATION PARTNERSHIP/TROUT UNLIMITED/WESTERN NATIVE TROUT INITIATIVE Sportsmen's Recommendations for Supporting the Proposed Colorado Roadless Rule Problem 1: At 562,000 acres, the upper tier category in the preferred alternative is too small and fails to include much of the most important fish and wildlife habitat. Solution: After further upper tier areas are included by the agency for the Pike-San Isabel and Rio Grande national forests, the acreage of upper tier lands in the preferred alternative should increase to a total of at least 1.4 million acres (33% of Colorado's road less acres) using the prioritized list of road less areas below. Upper tier lands bordering Community Protection Zones may be cut back in acreage so the bordering areas are not included in the upper tier (the overlap is roughly 22,000 acres total). All Alternative 2 lands already placed in upper tier should remain there. Rationale: The upper tier category has been created to balance narrowly defined exceptions in the CO rule such as coal mining, ski area development, and community protection zone logging. This is very similar to the "Primitive" and "Wild Land Recreation" categories used to balance development allowances in the Idaho roadless rule. While important, the preferred alternative (alt. 2) acres are limited to areas where forest plans already prohibit road building. Using these acres as upper tier does not address key fish and wildlife habitat nor does it illustrate a commitment by the Forest Service to go beyond their current plans and create a truly protective rule. -

EB: A couple weeks into the Fall 2020 semester, Covid-19 precautions caused NC State to put all classes online. This switch caused a lot of change in the lives of NC State students, forcing them to step out of their typical day-to-day routines in favor of something different. Abby Hepp ‘23 took this as an opportunity to go on the adventure of a lifetime-hiking, camping, and climbing her way across the United States! Today, we sit down with her to talk about her cross-country road trip, along with advice and NC State resources that students can use to get outside and craft their own adventures. EB: Okay, so today we are sitting down with Abby Hepp. Abby, would you like to introduce yourself to the podcast? Abby Hepp: Hi my name is Abby Hepp, I am majoring in Communication Media at NC State and I'm currently a sophomore. EB: Awesome! So we're going to get right into it! Today we're going to be talking about some of your adventures that you've been going on in the past few years and using to inspire other people as well, so let's start with- how did you become involved in outdoor activities and adventuring initially? In the face of these profound economic, social, and health disruptions, I am grateful that so many local organizations, participants, and staff have continued doing the work that benefits our communities and the public lands we all rely upon. With any luck, we can meet in person in the spring to regroup after winter, but in the meanwhile, thanks to everyone who submitted a season summary, and I hope to see you all in person soon. General effluent limits for all eligible vessels are given in Part 2. Box 439 Bayfield, CO 81122 Re: Initial Draft Hermosa Creek Watershed Management Plan Dear Ms. Hooley: Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) has reviewed the Initial Draft Hermosa Creel< Watershed Management Plan (Hermosa Plan). The newly created Hermosa Creek Wilderness and the Hermosa Special Management Area (SMA) are a result of a collaborative effort from a diverse group of local stakeholders that desired to achieve legislative protection of the watershed. The legislation that created the Hermosa Creek Watershed Protection stat es : "The purpose of the Special Man agement Area is to conserve and protect for the benefit of present and future generations the watershed, geological, scientific, recreational, wildlife, riparian, historical, educational, and scenic resources of the Special Management Area." The Hermosa Plan is an amendment to the 2013 San Juan National Forest (SJNF) Land and Resource Management Plan (Forest Plan), and the Recreational and Travel Management analysis and decision will be an integral part of the plan. The Hermosa Plan area is approximately 107, 900 ac res of National Forest land and includes both the SMA and Hermosa Creek Wilderness located in La Plata and San Juan Counties. It is a popular destination for many types of motorized and non -motorized rec reation including: Off Hi ghway Vehicle (OHV) riding, motorbiking, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, hunting, and camping. -
