  • How to Find the Right Artist for You
How To Find The Right Artist For You. There are a lot a client needs to match with an artist, to create a great experience and end up with a piece they will be happy with for the rest of their lives. There are a lot of questions that need to be asked before you plunk down that deposit… First…why the deposit? Deposits are needed to hold tattoo appointments and get the artist to start on the design process. Deposits are commonly used to cover the time artists spend on the design if the client chooses not to get tattooed. Therefore it is important to make sure you have chosen the right artist for the job so problems do not occur down the line. Deposits typically come off the final price of the tattoo and are kept on file until the piece is completed, however they can be forfeited if you do not show up for a scheduled appointment time to cover the artists lost time. Do you like the entire portfolio of the artist you are researching? Most artists have a specific style to their tattoos and if most of the artists portfolio pictures do not interest you, you need to keep researching other artists. How much of the design process are you willing to leave up to the artist? Artists will differ in the amount of artistic freedom they request from clients. Some artists will let you design a basic idea and then clean it up for you so it looks good as a tattoo. Other artists who specialize in a certain style will request partial or full artistic freedom on the design, to make it as cutting edge as possible.

  • Download Playbook 2030
11 From Pandemic to Playbook 2030 In March 2019, a volunteer group from across organized sports, active recreation, tourism, and economic development met to reflect on the future of sport and recreation in the region. While Calgary is renowned for its proximity to mountains and rivers, and its Olympic legacy, this group shared a belief that the scope of the active economy is undervalued. There was broad consensus that the existing fragmentation in the sector limited its potential. A clear need emerged for a more systematic analysis of how the active economy impacts the economic, human, social and environmental prosperity of our city and region. Our active economy encompasses active living, sport, recreation, physical education, physical literacy, indoor and outdoor play, health, wellness, and all other associated sectors. Today this active economy includes 95 per cent of the 1.5 million people living in the Calgary region, incorporating 4,000 enterprises, employing 43,000 people, and contributing $3.3 billion to the regional economy. To activate this diverse ecosystem, we established the ActiveCITY Collective, a grassroots collaboration of volunteers engaged in Calgary’s regional active economy. In June 2019, ActiveCITY agreed to develop a ten-year integrated Playbook for maximizing the active economy’s direct impact on Calgary’s prosperity. We built a plan to make better leverage Calgary’s natural competitive advantages to attract and retain talent to our highly livable city. Then COVID-19 changed everything. The impact of COVID-19 cannot be understated. The pandemic is causing seismic economic, human, and social costs to our city and region.
