INPEX Makes Final Investment Decision on First Stage Double Tracking of “” Natural Gas Trunk Pipeline - To commence Feasibility Study on Fifth Stage Extension of “Shin Tokyo Line” and Second Stage Double Tracking of “Ryomo Line” -

Tokyo, Japan - INPEX CORPORATION (INPEX) announced today that it has made a final investment decision on the first stage double tracking of its natural gas trunk pipeline “Ryomo Line” to further secure a stable natural gas supply to the northern Kanto region of Japan, where natural gas demand is expected to grow steadily.

The first stage double tracking will focus on the approximately six-kilometer segment between Sano City in Prefecture and Tatebayashi City in . The Ryomo Line extends 89 kilometers and connects Honjo City in Prefecture with Sano City and Tatebayashi City.

In addition, INPEX will commence a feasibility study on the fifth stage extension of its “Shin Tokyo Line,” a natural gas trunk pipeline extending 213 kilometers from Joetsu City in Prefecture to Fujioka City in Gunma Prefecture.

The company will separately also conduct a feasibility study on the second stage double tracking of the Ryomo Line. INPEX expects to make final investment decisions based on these feasibility studies in spring 2021.

1. Final investment decision on the first stage double tracking of the Ryomo Line

The Ryomo Line was constructed by the Ryomo Gas Business Cooperative in 1974 and acquired by INPEX in 2004. The company has since managed and operated the natural gas trunk pipeline, supplying natural gas to local gas companies in the Ryomo area including Isezaki Gas, Ota Toshi Gas, Ashikaga Gas, Sano Gas and Tatebayashi Gas. The double tracking of the Ryomo Line will enhance the stability of the pipeline’s supply capacity.

The feasibility studies will focus on the potential pipeline routes and pipeline specifications of the Shin Tokyo Line and Ryomo Line.
