ASHOK CHAKRA LANCE NAIK NAZIR AHMAD WANI, BAR TO SENA MEDAL THE JAMMU AND KASHMIR LIGHT INFANTRY / 34TH BATTALION THE RASHTRIYA RIFLES (POSTHUMOUS) Since his enrolement in the Army, Lance Naik Nazir Ahmad Wani, SM**, epitomised qualities of a fine soldier. He always volunteered for challenging missions, displaying great courage under adverse conditions, exposing himself to grave danger on numerous occasions in the line of duty. This is evident from the two gallantry awards conferred on him earlier. Lance Naik Nazir, yet again insisted on being part of the assault team during Operation Batagund launched by 34 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion on 25 Nov 2018 post receipt of credible intelligence regarding presence of six heavily armed terrorists in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. Tasked to block the most likely escape route, Lance Naik Nazir, moved swiftly with his team to the target house and tactically positioned himself within striking distance. Sensing danger, the terrorists attempted breaching the inner cordon firing indiscriminately and lobbing grenades. Undeterred by the situation, the NCO held ground and eliminated one terrorist in a fierce exchange at close range. The terrorist was later identified as a dreaded district commander of Lashker-e-Taiba. Thereafter, displaying exemplary soldierly skills, Lance Naik Nazir closed in with the target house under heavy fire and lobbed grenades into a room where another terrorist was hiding. Seeing the foreign terrorist escaping from the window, the NCO encountered him in a hand to hand combat situation. Despite being severely wounded, Lance Naik Nazir eliminated the terrorist. Showing utter disregard to his injury, Lance Naik Nazir continued to engage the remaining terrorists with same ferocity and audacity.

When the award has been made posthumously to a bachelor, the monetary allowance shall be paid to his father or mother, and in case the posthumous awardee was a Page 1 of 2 --- widower, the allowance shall be paid to his son below 18 years or unmarried daughter as the case may be.

www.talentsprint.com 1st January 2016 India, Pakistan exchange lists of nuclear facilities India and Pakistan have exchanged the list of their nuclear installations and facilities under the Agreement on the Prohibition of Attack against Nuclear installations. This exchange is done on 1st of January every year between the two neighbouring countries that bars them from attacking each other‟s atomic facilities. This is the 25th consecutive exchange of such list between the two countries, the first one having taken place on 1 January 1992. Union inks Financing Agreement with World Bank to fund education of minorities The Union Government has signed a Financing Agreement of 50 million dollars with the World Bank for Nai Manzil Scheme- Education and Skills Training for Minorities. Under this agreement, the credit will be facilitated by the International Development Association (IDA), World Bank‟s concessionary lending arm. This credit will be in the form of loan which carries a maturity of 25 years, including a 5- year grace period. The loan funds will be used for interventions under this scheme improve the employability and performance of minority youth in the labour market. The total project size is 100 million dollars, out of which 50 million dollars will be available as IDA credit and the remaining balance funding from the Union Budget. State wise benefits 19 4 PROCEDURE FOR CLAIMING MONETARY BENEFIT The procedure for claiming the monetary benefit attached with the award is as follows :- (a) An application is to be made by the awardee as per the format. (b) Domicile Certificate in original issued by the State authorities (Tehsildar/Sub Divisional Magistrate) is to be attached. In spite of the Domicile certificate, the State Governments had been insisting on School Leaving Certificate to prove the bonafide. Accordingly, the same are also to be attached. (c) Affidavit, in duplicate, from the individual stating that he has not claimed cash award from any other State on Rs. 10 (ten) non-judicial stamp paper duly attested by 1st Class Magistrate/Notary, is to be enclosed (Specimen at Appendix `G'). (d) On receipt of the above at Naval Headquarters (DPS), the Gazette Notification and a copy of the citation will be attached to the application and despatched to the ZilaSainik Board who in turn will forward the same to the RajyaSainik Board, which is the approving authority.
