Ostavio je traga ne samo kao teniski igrač već kao i trener i sportski komentator. Za vrijeme svoje sportske karijere bio je poznat po svom popularnom „dive-u“ a Tennis Magazin ga je rangirao kao jedanaestog najboljeg igrača u periodu od 1965-2005 godine. Kao njegovi veći uspjesi navode se i 6 Grand Slam titula, Olimpijsko zlato i 13 Master titula. Tri godine je bio dio tima tada tenisera broj 1, Novaka Đokoviča, s kojim je nizao mnoge uspjehe kao trener. Njegov život je nekada bio, a i sada je, veoma dinamičan i turbulentan zbog čega je privlačio puno pažnje javnosti. Svoje poslovne i privatne priče podijelio je sa publikom u svojoj autobiografiji. Zbog svojih velikih uspjeha često se pominje kada se govori o sportu, ne samo kao jedan od najuspješnijih tenisera, već i kao jedan od nauspješnijih sportista uopšte, kao i trenera. -
