WILLCOX TRAN Quang Phuong , TRAN Van Bang and HOANG Minh Duc Arctogalidia trivirgata is rather rarely included on mammal survey lists for Vietnamese protected fromSmall-toothed outside Vietnam Palm Civet suggests that this paucity of records in Vietnam is due at least largely to the reliance on inappropriate areas. This has often led to its being declared rare, and therefore a priority for national small carnivore conservation. Evidence survey methods, i.e. ground-based camera-trapping and diurnal surveys, that will fail to record this nocturnal, very arboreal civet. Presented here are several recent confirmed records from both protected and non-protected areas in Vietnam, all of which servationhave undergone priority major among anthropogenic Vietnam’s mammals. disturbances, Consideration including huntingof other andinformation illegal logging. from throughout The ability ofits this range species suggests to survive that the in these areas where most similar-sized or larger animal species haveA.
