BADGERS FINISH IN 29TH AT 2004 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS The Wisconsin wrestling team took 29th place at the 2004 NCAA WISCONSIN Championships scoring 15.5 total points. Dropping six places from last year, the second day of the championships proved disappointing for Wisconsin as Wrestling the Badgers ended their season prematurely at the national tournament. Wisconsin captains Ralph DeNisco (174 pounds) and Tyler Laudon (141) 2003–04 Schedule & Results each earned wins to advance beyond the starting matches of Session III, but 17-6-0 Overall • 4-4-0 Big Ten lost their next competitions. Senior captain Ralph DeNisco finished his season at 19-14, while fellow co-captains Tyler Laudon and Brady Reinke finished 13- Date Opponent (Rank) Results 13 and 18-9, respectively. FEB. 1 PENN STATE (6) L, 15-24 Climbing two spots from the the 2003 finish, the Wisconsin wrestling team placed seventh at this season’s Big Ten Championships as the Badgers scored Feb. 6 at Purdue (18) W, 28-6 85 points in the tournament. MARKING A MILESTONE Wisconsin head coach picked up his 100th career victory, leading the Badgers when Wisconsin defeated No. 12 Minnesota 17-16 (Jan. 30). This was the first time the Badgers defeated Minnesota in seven years and the first 2003-04 NCAA time Wisconsin won in Gopher country since the 1990-91 season.
