LAS CARLINAS

• The name Las Carlinas refers to a type of thistle, native to and with a yellow star-like flower in the centre • All over Europe the thistle has long been associated with strength – due to its capacity to grow where other flowers would not survive - and protection, due to its thorny leaves • In many parts of Spain the carlina thistle is hung on doors to protect the inhabitants from evil spirits and sickness • The carlina is symbolic of the natural diversity of Spanish native flora and fauna and of its longest standing traditions LAS CARLINAS

OLD VINE GARNACHA

• Like the carlina, the garnacha grape is native to Spain, having originated in the region, where the Campo de Borja DO is located • As the vines age, they produce fewer grapes, that are more concentrated, better structured and more flavourful – meaning that the best garnacha come from old vines of more than 25 years of age • Long revered as a blending grape in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Spain is well placed to meet the renewed interest in premium garnacha with more low-yielding old vine stock than anywhere else in the world LAS CARLINAS LAS CARLINAS
