15 Musicians Line-up

SALZBURG SOLOISTS

The ensemble has been dazzling audiences and invigorating the music world since its founding by the Salzburg violinist Luz Leskowitz in 1979, with the aim of bringing together highly qualified young soloists and chamber musicians. The seven strings (two violins, two violas, two violoncellos and a double bass) all hold either leading positions in top European orchestras and/or teach at music conservatories. They gave their first concert, together with J. Menuhin in July 1979. The Salzburger Solisten soon acquired a high reputation during international tours to London (Wigmore Hall), Amsterdam (Concert- gebouw), Vienna (Musikverein), Brussels, Hamburg, Paris (Salle Gaveau), Copenhagen, Bulgaria (Sofia Sala), Bologna, Geneva, Barcelona, Lisbon, Sao Paulo, Budapest, Tokyo, Sasayama, among others. They were the ensemble of the “Salzburger Schlosskonzerte”, the largest concert series in the world with more than 250 concerts a year, which was directed and owned by Luz Leskowitz for 25 years.
