Naracoorte Caves Connection Business Idea Prize

Background

The Naracoorte Lucindale Council is focused on bringing greater economic and community benefit to the local area from the iconic Naracoorte Caves.

As home to South ’s only World Heritage site Naracoorte is a unique destination for visitors in the Limestone Coast. The Naracoorte Caves are World Heritage listed due to the importance of the fossils – the Caves contain Australia’s richest record of megafauna fossils. By leveraging value from the Caves and making the most of what we have at the Caves, we attract more visitors and everyone’s business can benefit.

At the Caves Connection Business Workshop held on 9 November business ideas were brainstormed that use or leverage Naracoorte’s proximity to the World Heritage listed Naracoorte Caves. The criteria was fun, interesting, achievable ideas to connect Naracoorte to the Caves that will grow and our visitor economy. Ideas were focused on food and beverage, tours and experiences, events and public space, accommodation and souvenirs and gifts.

A once-off $3,000 cash prize will be awarded to the individual, business or organisation located in the Naracoorte Lucindale Council area that is the first to generate $1,000 in sales from one of the listed business ideas or another new Caves related business idea.
