Virginia Ruth Neal Thornthwaite June 25, 1924 – June 24, 2013 Virginia Ruth Neal Thornthwaite died on June 24, 2013, a few hours before her 89th birthday. She was at the home of kind, loving friends where she resided in the Friends House community of Santa Rosa, California. Involved in many organizations, activities and travel, and with the love and support of family and of an abundance of cherished friends, she was fully engaged in life to the end. After retirement in 1981, Virginia (with Fred) lived at their home on St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands and at Friends House in Santa Rosa, California. Among the many interests and projects she engaged in, Virginia was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and was actively involved in The Friends of the Virgin Islands National Park and the Virgin Islands Audubon Society. In Santa Rosa, she was a board member of Friends House and also served on numerous committees.
