After reading several reviews, pro and con, I decided I had to read it and decide for myself. It just didnt sound like James Patterson. I only gave it 3 stars because I love some of the characters in his other books. Someone mentioned all the exclamation points - yup, there are a lot of them. Someone else mentioned choppy sentences, yup, lots of them, too. You have to assume a lot when you read this book - like how did the bad guys keep finding them? You have to assume that maybe the cars were lo-jacked or maybe Frannie and gang were constantly followed. And bird-kids having sex? Im not even going to go there except to say it was mentioned a couple times that the kids were older in bird years. I kinda figured Max was going to wind up pregnant, but she laid eggs? Okay. And I have to admit, Frannie did kind of seem like a twit. The title didnt make sense either since they didnt even wind up at the Lake House until the very end . Not at all what I expected of a James Patterson novel. I almost had to force myself to finish it. Im not sorry I read it because it did satisfy my curiosity. But, I think Ill stick to Alex Cross, Michael Bennett and Detectives Jordan and McDonald.
