The program was created to help coordinate activities among 911 stakeholders and to provide information that can be used to improve the 911 system. The National 911 Program has developed a variety of tools and resources, including tools that can be used to plan and implement Next Generation (NG) 911. The National 911 Program is housed within the Office of Emergency Medical Services at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT). The data within the National 911 Progress Report was collected as part of a project titled, the “911 Resource Center” which is operated by Booz Allen Hamilton under a contract with NHTSA.
