His senior year of high school, Josh played on Team Wisconsin and the Team Wisconsin Senior Team. The Senior Team won its first ever championship at the Chicago Showcase and Josh received the Best Defenseman Award for the tournament. After high school Josh went on to play Junior hockey in the USHL for the Green Bay Gamblers. After one year of Juniors, Josh committed to UW-Madison and played four years for the Badgers. His Sophomore year the Badgers won the National Championship defeating Boston College 2-1. His Senior year at UW, Josh Received the 7th Man Award which is presented to the player who the fans think gives his all on the ice and best represents the trademarks of team spirit and good sportsmanship. After college Josh went on to play four years of professional hockey. Josh started playing pro in the ECHL for the Gwinnett Gladiators where he soon got called up to play in the AHL for the Toronto Marlies.
