DIANE MILO (Sonia) - Diane returns for her second appearance with WVLO after making her dramatic and impressive debut in the role of Ann Collier in our pro- duction of "The 1940's Radio Hour". Diane has been busy since then, appearing in many productions through- out the Bay Area. Most notably, she understudied and performed three of the five principal roles in PCLO/ Hillbarn's production of "Nunsense" and was featured along with the rest of the members of the jazz quartet, Corner Pocket, as the award-winning Angel City 4 in AMTSJ's "". She was also the Associate Director for FMT's "" and was most recently seen in Bus Barn Stage's nostalgic "Tapestry". Her leading man, Robin Melnick, was also featured in "Tapestry" so this is a special stage reunion for them. Diane extends her gratitude to Director, Brad Handshy, for giving her this incredible opportunity. And we thank Diane for return- ing to share her talents with our audiences. We hope she will find the time to do so again soon!

ROBIN MELNICK (Vernon) - This is Robin's first return to WVLO since a role he says literally changed his life. He played Lancelot - and more importantly also met his wife, Mary - in our 1994 production of "." And looking around the cast and crew, it's definitely a reunion show for Robin, having just worked with Diane (Sonia) in the recent Bus Barn (Los Altos) run of "Tapestry;" with Tim, our other Vernon, in "1776" with our sister company, SDG; and with Kris Dudley, Janet Miller, and many of our production and technical crew in a host of shows over the years. In the meantime, he's performed with groups around the Bay Area - from San Jose's AMT to San Francisco's Lamplighters. A few of Robin's favorite roles have included Antipholus of Syracuse in "The Boys From Syracuse," Rapunzel's in "," Lee in "1776," and Dominique in "The Baker's Wife." A lifelong musician and native of South- ern California, Robin's musical theater career didn't begin till he moved to the South Bay after college at Berkeley. Robin and his wife live in Moun- tain View.

8 JOLIN MILBERG (Sonia) - Jolin makes her debut with WVLO in this production, but it marks her return to theater after a four-year hiatus. Before taking time off to pursue a teaching credential, Jolin traveled through- out the country, teaching and performing with Califor- nia Theatre Center. She has also enjoyed working for Shakespeare Orange County and Sunnyvale Summer Rep where she recently appeared as Amy Lawrence in "Tom Sawyer". Jolin's professional credits include ''A Midwinter's Night's Dream", "The Fantasticks", "The Diary of Anne Frank", and ''Alice In Wonderland". Her most memorable roles include Aldonza in "The " and Myra in "Hay Fever". Her hobbies include reading and husband, Dustin, not necessarily in that order! Jolin's favorite role is now that of a first-grade teacher at Argonaut School here in Saratoga. We're looking forward to her return to our stage very soon.

TIM REYNOLDS (Vernon) - Believe it or not, this is Tim's first production with WVLO, even though he has made many appearances on this stage, all with SDG, having appeared in their productions of "", "Brigadoon", "Day in Hollywood, Night in the Ukraine", "Grand Night For Singing", "1776", "Irene", "Guys & Dolls" and "Anything Goes". Tim has a long and varied list of credits beginning with "" for SJCMT more than twenty years ago. Other productions include "Crazy For You" with PCLO; "She Loves Me" with CCMT; '' Get Your Gun" and "" for PP; "Wilbur and Me", "", and "Merrily We Roll Along" with TheatreWorks; "The Secret Garden" with MVP and over twenty productions with LACT. A graduate of Northwestern University with a degree in Speech/Theatre, Tim is equally at home on the non- musical stage, with such credits as "Blithe Spirit", "Bullshot Crummond", ''A Midsummer Night's Dream" and the world premier of "Doubles" with Santa Clara Players in which he plated six roles. Tim lives in Fremont with his lovely wife, Barbara, who is also a very talented singer/actress. We hope this is just the beginning of his performances with us.

9 ANDY KOCH (Voice)- Andy makes his third appear- ance with WVLO, having first appeared in "Singin' in the Rain" and last summer in "Crazy For You" as the bartender. His theatrical credits include numerous pro- ductions with SDG as both performer and producer and as a performer with FMT. Andy is a senior at SJSU, majoring in Theatre Arts and will earn his BA in 2000! Congratulations, Andy, and thanks for joining our cast for this production. With 10 years of tap, jazz and ballet, we look forward to having you join our dance choruses again after you earn your degree!

DAWN MAURER (Voice) - Dawn makes her debut with WVLO, but has been performing since she was ten, when she appeared in the chorus of SJCMT's produc- tion of "Guys & Dolls". As a teenager, she was a mem- ber of SJCLO's tour group, The Young Vibrations, and won a Ginny Award for her role as the Fairy Godmother in "Cinderella". As an adult, she toured with the story theater troupe, Fun City, performing at school assem- blies and special events. Just after meeting her husband, John, she played Lizzie in "Baby" for SCU. Last year, Dawn portrayed Golde in SJCMT's "Fiddler On The Roof" and Sylviain the new musical, "Pulse: The Rhythm of Life". Dawn currently teaches fifth grade at Allen School and is the proud mother of two daughters, Michelle & Nicole. Welcome, Dawn, and we hope you return to our stage in a future production.

KEVIN YOUNG (Voice) - This marks Kevin's first appearance with WVLO and he comes to us with edu- cational and theatrical credits from UC Berkeley. His first stage role was in "The Music Man" and most re- cently in "Pirates ofPenzance". Other credits include "1 Am Dreaming, But Am I?" "Guys & Dolls", "Okla- homa!" and as Petruchio in "Generic Farce - An Amal- gamation of Scenes from Shakespeare, Moliere & Plautus." He is a math teacher and his ambition is to play the role ofJean Valjean in "Les Miserables". Kevin's hobbies include tennis, softball, vol- leyball, martial arts, camping and hiking, photography and computers. We are pleased and grateful that you chose to share your singing talents with us in this production and extend an invitation to return again.

This "Phantom" has been viewed as one of the most appealing American musicals of recent years and should not be confused with Andrew Lloyd Webber's recent production. This bold new interpretation is a powerful, emotional story that will tug at your heart. Yeston recently wrote the music and lyrics for the Broadway hit, "". This score includes: "Melodie de Paris", "You Are Music", "Home", "My True Love" and "You Are My Own". Performances: Oct/Nov/99 "THE BOY FRIEND" Book, Music & Lyrics by SANDY WILSON This classic musical is a witty and stylish cartoon of the Jazz Age in the roaring 20's, set on the French Riviera in a fashionable finishing school where the inevitable wide-eyed innocent heroine falls in love with an earnest, well-meaning young man. There are many complications which make this a delightful spoof of the old-fashioned operetta - all to a flapper beat. A good-humored, tuneful and affectionate valentine to the innocence and high spirits of the Charleston, Cloche hat and short skirt days of the 20's, this musical first opened in London in 1954, starring Julie Andrews and came to Broadway in 1970 with Sandy Duncan in the leading role. The 1972 film version starred Twiggy and Tommy Tune. Memorable songs, besides the title song, include: "Won't You Charleston With Me?" & "I Could Be Happy With You", Performances: Mar/Apr 2000 "" Book by PETER STONE, Music by , Lyrics by & The spirit of Florenz Ziegfeld lives again as this musical takes you on a bewitching tour of the life and times of the legendary Will Rogers with one dazzling number after another. Rogers' rope- twirling, home-spun humor is more widely appealing amidst sensational production numbers and panache of the original "Ziegfeld Follies" which dazzled audiences during the 1920's & 1930's. This musical opened on Broadway in 1991, starring and won the Tony Award for Best Musical. Several national touring companies have since presented it in major cities across the country. Songs include: "Will-A-Manina", "Give Me Enough Rope", "Once In Awhile" & "Never Met a Man I Didn't Like". Most recently, he per- formed in "Anything Goes" & "42nd Street" with AMTSJ and "Kiss Me, Kate" at FMT. Brad would like to dedicate his work on this production to all the play directors with whom he's ever worked. He has expressed his gratitude for this opportunity to direct "They're Playing Our Song", but we have all benefited from his delightful direction and choreog- raphy. We look forward to his next production with WVLO, as performer, di- rector or choreographer - it matters not!!

MIKE HALLORAN - Music & Choral Director - Mike returns to our staff as Music Director after a very long ab- sence; the last time he waved his baton for us was back in 1977 in "Very Good Eddie". Mike also has per- formed most of the bass roles with G&S, as well as serving as Music Director for "Sorcerer". We are always grateful when Stephen is willing to devote his time and incredible talents to this Association.

JUDY MECUM - Costumer - Judy returns to WVLO after a long absence; even though she has been responsible for dressing many of our performers in the past. She has assisted other costumers ("Where's Charley?" was the most recent), but her last costuming responsibility was "The King & I" in 1993 - with a "cast of thousands" that was a major undertaking - we understand why she took a rest. But we're glad she's back! We missed her smiling face and of sunshine she brings to all the cast and crew! Don't stay away so long next time, Judy!

MI CHAEL G. MUNOZ - Lighting Designer - Mike has brought many won- derfullighting effects to WVLO productions over the years, including last season's "Crazy For You", "Annie Get Your Gun", "Nunsense II", "Camelot" & "Me & My Girl". Mike has also designed lighting for SDG's productions of "Sugar", "Irene", "High Button Shoes" & "Brigadoon". We are always pleased with the creative ways he enhances our scenes. Welcome back, Mike!

KRIS DUDLEY - Stage Manager/Props - Kris has worked on many WVLO productions through the years, but usually as just the props coordinator; so we are delighted to have her as stage manager on our staff A dedicated and respon- sible supporter of community theater, Kris is a joy to work with in any capacity and we are delighted that she chose this production to exercise her managerial skills as stage manager and continue her favorite role as props manager. Kris will be assuming still another new position for WVLO next season when she pro- duces "The Boy Friend" in March and April, 2000. Thanks, Kris, for all your time, effort and assistance through the years, but mostly, thanks for being you!
