Kansas (Hopper), a wrangler for an American film company in Peru, stays on after the filming of a Billy the Kid movie, and finds himself cast as the star of a local Indian cult’s mock film. His friend, Neville Robey (Gordon), is a Vietnam vet and a violent alcoholic who eventually commits suicide. This film was Hopper’s attempt at a deconstructive western in the style of Jean-Luc Godard.
