How to use the Atlas The Atlas has two map sections The Main Section shows the location of Russia’s intact forest landscapes. The Thematic Section shows their tree species composition in two different ways. The legend is placed at the beginning of each set of maps. If you are looking for an area near a town or village Go to the Index on page 153 and find the alphabetical list of settlements by English name. The Cyrillic name is also given along with the map page number and coordinates (latitude and longitude) where it can be found. Capitals of regions and districts (raiony) are listed along with many other settlements, but only in the vicinity of intact forest landscapes. The reader should not expect to see a city like Moscow listed. Villages that are insufficiently known or very small are not listed and appear on the map only as nameless dots. If you are looking for an administrative region Go to the Index on page 185 and find the list of administrative regions. The numbers refer to the map on the inside back cover. Having found the region on this map, the reader will know which index map to use to search further. If you are looking for the big picture Go to the overview map on page 35. This map shows all of Russia’s Intact Forest Landscapes, along with the borders and Roman numerals of the five index maps. The purpose of the paper is to demonstrate the adequacy of the technical and economic characteristics and consumer properties of the new overpass aerotrain transport to the geographical and climatic conditions of the region. It examines the opportunities and positive results of introducing a new mode of transport in the unified transportation system of the region in order to create favorable conditions for providing necessary transport sufficiency for its social and economic development. 1 Introduction Most regions of Siberia in Russia have inadequate transport sufficiency for a harmoni- ous social and economic development, for which it is necessary to form an effective transport system that is adequate to the landscape relief, climate pattern and the needs of business and population. For example, in the difficult geographical and climatic conditions of the Altai Mountains, it becomes necessary to abandon the formation of a traditional wheeled transport system that has technical, operational and economic performances that are not satisfactory for the time being. To ensure high efficiency of the transportation pro- cess in the transport system of the region, it is not enough to improve or modernize existing transport technologies, it is necessary to create fundamentally new transport technologies for the transportation of goods and passengers. -

(Fabaceae) were studied on the periphery of its range (the Middle Volga region and the Bashkir Cis-Urals) and in its central part (the Altai Mountains region). Types of cenopopulations were determined according to the “delta-omega” criterion: in the Bashkir Urals, they were mostly young, in the Middle Volga region, they were mature, in the Altai Mountains, they were maturing. The proportion of pregenerative individuals in populations increases in habi- tats with high moisture levels. Anthropogenic load (mainly in the form of grazing) had a greater ef- fect on the number and density of individuals, rather than on the type of ontogenetic spectrum of cenopopulations. Invasive and Potentially Invasive Plant Species in State Nature Biosphere Reserves of the Altai Republic (Russia)

Zykova¹ ¹Central Siberian Botanical Garden, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Novosibirsk, Russia ²Katunskiy State Nature Biosphere Reserve Ust’-Koksa, Altai Republic, Russia E-mail: [email protected], [email protected] In the Altaiskiy and Katunskiy State Nature Biosphere Reserves we registered 44 alien plant species, which were considered in Siberia as invasive and potentially invasive. Among them, there were 30 xenophytes and 14 ergasiophytes species. Rumex acetosella L., Impatiens glandulifera Royle, Galinsoga ciliata (Rafin.) Blake, and Strophiostoma sparsiflorum (Mikan ex Pohl) Turcz. are considered invasive in the Altaiskiy Reserve because they actively spread there in natural and seminatural plant communities and habitats. Most of the species had appeared in the territories of the reserves before their establishment as a result of agricultural activity or appeared after their establishment because of activity of the reserves themselves. Despite of a big amount of tourists in the reserves, the invasive and potentially invasive plants are absent on the ecological paths at present. By now 14000 alien plant species are known, 13000 of which have already naturalized in at least one region of the world (van Kleunen et al., 2015, 2019). -

Komsomolsky – 75, Tomsk, Russia, 634041; E-mail: [email protected] The first russians works on geological and geomorphologic consequences of giant basin ice-dammed lakes outbursts in Altai were published some 20 years ago. Using the methods of quaternary geology, geomorphology and paleoglaciology, it was found that during glacial Pleistocene such lakes occupied all the intermontane depressions of the Altai-Sayany mountain region, reaching their maximums almost simultaneously with glacial expansion maximums. Using the methods of simulation, magnitudes of melt water volume from glaciers of lake basins mountain frames in late Würm were estimated. Finally it was ascertained that a melt water volume had been increasing simultaneously with a glaciation area, and, for example, in basin of the Upper Chuya - the greatest in Altai Chuya intramontane depression, had exceeded the nowadays thawed flow 30 times (Rudoy, 1981; Rudoy and others, 1989). Thus a full basin filling to the highest lake terraces level took no more than 100 years, and then its cataclysmic outflow. It took the ice-dammed lake of Kurai no more than 30 years to be filled. Filling duration of Hubsugul and Darhat late quaternary ice-dammed lakes was of the same order (Grosswald, 1987, 1999). It seems that a filling and catastrophic evacuation period of basin ice-dammed lakes for about a hundred years was common to all of Siberian mountain territories that is quite clear taking into consideration similar hydroclimatic and orographic conditions of the region nowadays and in Pleistocene alike. -
