EMERGENCY CLOSURE OF HURST HILL RESERVOIR 1 AND 2

There is a major burst water pipe on the bulk line from Stafford to Hurst Hill and Brixton reservoirs. The burst pipe is inside the Booysens Informal settlement, and unfortunately the team cannot do repairs as there are informal houses situated where the team needs to excavate to do repairs.

The Johannesburg Water team has been struggling since Sunday 19 July 2020 to get residents to move their informal houses so that the team can commence with repairs, and communication with the residents is continuing. The team will close the Hurst Hill reservoirs as they are running low due to the burst pipe. We have started a process of getting water tanks in place.
