Note: For several years, Successful Farming magazine selected Farm All-American teams, giving recognition to athletes who had grown up on farms and ranches. Scholarships of at least $500 were presented in the name of the athletes to their schools. Chadron State had several of these honorees. Football first-team selections included Corey Campbell, 1995; Casey Beran, 1997, 1998 and 1999; Mike Brownfield, 1998; and Matt Strand, 2000. Jeremy Eardley was a second-team choice in 2000 and Amy Oldaker was a volleyball selection in 1998. Athletes from all collegiate levels were recognized. Beran was named defensive captain of the 1999 football team. In addition, Jeremy Slaughter, the starting center for the CSC football team in 2004, received a special honor that season, when he was among the handful of players named to the American Football Coaches Associa- tion’s Good Works Team for his involvement primarily in Christian, youth-related activities. Another special honor went to Judd Hoos and Adam Hofmaier. Each received the Unsung Hero award from the College Football Chronicle. Hoos won it in 1996 and Hofmaier claimed the award in 1997.
