OKLAHOMA OKLAHOMA 90, TCU 89 DECEMBER 30, 2017 • POSTGAME NOTES • No. 12/12 Oklahoma (11-1, 1-0 Big 12) opened Big 12 play with a 90-89 road win over No. 10/8 TCU (12-1, 0-1 Big 12) on Saturday at Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. The Sooners trailed by as many as 13 in the second half before coming back to win their ninth straight game.

• Oklahoma, who won at then-No. 3 Wichita State on Dec. 16, has won multiple road games against top-10 teams in the same season for the first time in program history. The Sooners are one of only three teams to win two road games against top-10 foes before the end of December, joining Notre Dame (1976-77) and Ohio State (1961-62).

• TCU led by as many as 13, holding a 67-54 advantage with 10:36 remaining. Oklahoma took the lead for the first time in the second half (88-87) on a 3-pointer from Kameron McGusty with 26 seconds remaining. After the Frogs answered with a jumper from Kenrich Williams with 16 seconds on the clock, OU’s Trae Young got to the foul line and sunk a pair of foul shots to give OU the 90-89 advantage with seven seconds left.

• OU’s comeback was its biggest deficit overcome since coming back from 15 down at West Virginia on Jan. 18, 2017.

• Young led the Sooners with 39 points and 14 assists, putting together his 11th straight game of 20-plus points. He is the first Sooner to reach 11 straight games of 20 points since Stacey King in 1988-89. Young’s outing marked his sixth double-double, fifth game of 30-plus points and third 30-point, 10- double-double. Through two months of , Young continues to lead the nation in scoring (29.6 points) and assists (10.7).

• Young’s 39 points are the most by an OU freshman in Big 12 play and the second-most by a Sooner frosh in conference play (Wayman Tisdale scored 46 against Iowa State in 1983).

• McGusty helped propel the Sooners late in the game by scoring 11 points in the final six minutes. He finished the night with a season-high 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting (3-of-4 from 3-point range).

• TCU entered the game on a 17-game winning streak (dating back to last season) and ranked first in the conference in field-goal shooting (.527). The Sooners held the Frogs to 30-of-74 shooting (.405) – TCU’s lowest percentage of the season.

• The Sooners were outrebounded 31-19 in the opening half before winning the second half’s rebounding battle 21-15 – cutting the Frogs’ boards in half. Freshman forward Brady Manek pulled down a career-best 13 rebounds.

• Senior forward Khadeem Lattin supplied five blocks, bringing his career count to 198.

• Oklahoma shot 10-of-21 (.476) from 3-point range. The Sooners have sunk at least 10 3-pointers in seven straight games.

• With the win, the Sooners improved to 5-2 in Big 12 openers under Lon Kruger and have opened conference play with a win in five of the past six seasons.

• Up next, the Sooners return to a sold out Lloyd Noble Center for their 234th meeting with Oklahoma State. The Bedlam matchup tips at 8 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Jan. 3., and will air on ESPNU. The Sooners have won 17 of the last 26 Bedlam meetings, including seven of the past nine contests. OU owns a 136-97 all-time advantage in the series and boasts an 84-27 lead when played in Norman.
