A battle to get back to his for- mer self and to return as an inte- gral part of the Western Kentucky basketball team. A redshirt junior, Dickerson said he’s now as healthy as he’s been since his freshman year. “I feel good,” he said. “I feel confident right now. Everybody’s getting me open looks, and I have confidence to knock down shots. It’s been awhile.” Dickerson tried to manage a left shoulder injury at the start of last season, his true junior cam- paign. But after four games and miss- ing 15 of his 17 shot attempts, Dickerson and then coach Ken McDonald decided it would be best for the Argyle, Texas, prod- uct to have surgery on a torn labrum in his left shoulder. He spent the rest of the 2011-12 season in rehabilitation and watching the Tops’ memorable tournament title run from the bench. He’s champing at the bit to be a key contributor this season. “We’re experienced, so we’ve been there, done that,” he said. “We know what it takes to get back to where we were last year, and we’re going to take each game one by one and take it as an opportunity to get better each night out.” Dickerson shot 42 percent from the 3-point line his freshman sea- “His shot looks him a little bit about diving into looks better than I’ve ever seen it. son.
