Newsletter Article for September

Hi all, my name is Ally Chang and I write to introduce myself as the new Clerk for Finedon Town Council. I have lived in Finedon all my life so I am very familiar and fond of the town, I look forward to making a positive contribution to the community. There are many upcoming projects that I am very excited to be involved with such as a community litter pick which is set to take place on Saturday 19th September 2020. If you wish to get involved, please do not hesitate to contact me either via email [email protected] or by telephone on 07947646043.

The Cemetery, Station Road The Council has now taken over ownership of the Cemetery from Borough Council and has started planning for urgent remedial works such as some tree work, painting and repairing the exteriors of the chapels and pathway work. The Council is looking to bring the Chapels back into use and would welcome any suggestions for their use that you may have. Please contact any councillor with your ideas or email the clerk.

Pocket Park Wellingborough Borough Council has now also transferred ownership of the Pocket Park to Finedon. A survey will be taking place of the park so that a programme of remedial works can be put in place. If you have noticed any areas that need attention in the park, please let the Clerk know so that they can be assessed.

Library It is understood that the Library will not be re-opening until January 2021, as agreed with Library Service.

Highways The grant funding obtained has allowed the Council to purchase 2 new vehicle activated signs which have been ordered. They are able to provide useful data to the Council with regards to traffic as well as speeding. A recent survey on Road has meant that the Safer Roads Team will be setting up speed cameras on a monthly basis.

If you have any highways issues, please keep reporting them to Highways via their Fix My Street portal, just ctrl+click on the link Fix My Street - NCC Highways

As usual, please feel free to contact the Council should you have anything you wish to bring to their attention. Providing it is within the Council’s remit, we will try our best to make Finedon a better place to live.
